A SUMMARY OF THE KEY ISSUES IN ROYAL MAIL’S PROPOSAL
PAY – Various options that produce 6.7% over 2 years with additional lump sums. This includes new money in the first year (1% is funded through ESOS).
FLEXIBILITY – a range of proposals which amount to total flexibility with postal workers not knowing what job they would be doing from day to day - with different attendances as requested by the local manager.
PENSIONS – Completely unacceptable proposals that virtually mirror the Royal Mail pension document revealed in the national press.
NETWORK 07/LATER STARTS – There has been an exchange of proposals to move these issues forward. The Union are awaiting a response from Royal Mail on whether our counter proposals are acceptable.
OTHER ISSUES – No final agreement on a range of other issues including job security, automation, door to door, MTSF, productivity and pay simplification.

We are sure that any member reading the above proposal from Royal Mail will now realise how vital it is that we ALL support our union. Whilst some progress has made on pay (even though they are still expecting us to fund our own rise) the massive issues of pensions and Flexibility still loom large.

How many of you would agree to increase your pension’s contributions? How many of you are happy to work longer for the same pension?

How many of you could adjust your start / finish times at a whim on a daily basis?

We have a national briefing on Thursday and as always we will make sure that as soon as we come back the information will be relayed to you. You should all be assured that the CWU are still working hard for a negotiated settlement and will be meeting with Royal Mail to reinforce this point.
YES to negotiation – No to Dictation
