Re: Advice Please......
Anyone who really has that as an opinion belongs in the Tory Party - I lost a family member to depression its a silent black killer and if untreated, or treated without respect or compassion can lead to a full blown mental breakdown and even psychotic incidents.red666bear wrote:Sounds like she wants to skip christmas and maybe won`t be depressed in the new year.Cheetah wrote:A Female colleague has returned to work after a few months absence with clinical depression for which she is still under the consultant for and taking medication. Atos only give her a couple of days on light duties i.e 4 hours per day indoors.
These days have gone and the manager is insisting she go back on to her rural delivery straight away even though she has explained how she feels and has asked to be kept indoors until after Xmas, where she will have some company and not be subjected to any stress. She has spoke with me and has said she is not ready to return to full duties and it is very evident to see as she is still withdrawn and often on the verge of tears at the drop of a hat.
She doesn't want to go back on the sick for a couple of reasons, not wanting to trigger a stage 2 and not wanting to be in the house alone deep in thoughts as her hubby is out at work and she doesn't like being alone at this time.......
Any advice would be appreciated as to what would be the best course of action, and what is the position regards DDA for clinical depression, is it a qualifying condition ??????
There are 2.6 million people without a job - depressed don`t make me laugh. Toughen up or ship out.
To paraphrase you - depression does not make me laugh, show compassion or ship out.

TBT you are so right. Depression can be caused by so many triggers. I also lost a sister in law who took to drink following depression brought about many years previous when her 7 year old son was left brain damaged following an accident on a zebra crossing. This is why depression is regarded seriously by the medical profession and is a listed condition under the Equality Act. I hope the person who wrote those comments is now feeling some form of shame for such remarks, obviously written with no thought or compassion.

Re: Advice Please......
I have suffered from depression in the past, and I'm as tough as old boots, so don't give me that shiat about toughen up or ship out. So glad I didn't have colleagues like you at that point in my life.
I wonder if you would say the same if she had a broken bone, or arthritis in her knees etc. Not all illnesses are physical. The lass has already stated that she feels the stress and anxiety when she's on her own. Maybe she feels that she will be on her own doing her duty. After all most of the time you are on your own on delivery. Maybe she's stressing because she knows the duty is too big for her, so many things that it could be and along comes someone so fkin supportive like u.
