Why anyone would want to silence debate on a forum specifically designed for debate is interesting.
If people promote a position on a forum like this they have to be prepared for the fact that not everyone will support or agree with it...that applies to all of us.

That's a conceited and dangerous position to take...for anyone.
Nobody should attempt to speak for anyone except themselves on a forum...it works best when people give their own honest opinion, not the union line or the management line and certainly not their own interpretation of the members line.
Finally the idea that someone who doesn't share the same view as another poster is automatically a "keyboard warrior" who doesn't get "stuck in" is based on what exactly?
I love reading the debates,so much info comes out of it,long may it continue.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I can hardly wait to see:
a. How much of the % we receive, and
b. How people will be able to justify a lesser amount in the interests of the members, who obviously voted for it.
To be honest and this is only my opinion i don't think even Royal Mail would be stupid enough to pull the 3.5%.
Of course the real con is with RPI at 5.2% and not much chance of the re-opener clause re-opening it is in real terms for something like the 5th year in a row....a pay cut.
3.5% on it's own could be argued to be reasonable but let's not forget this was supposed to be the Jam after 4 years of going backwards with paltry rises of 1.5% in 2008 0% in 2009 2% in 2010 and 1.4% in 2011.
3.5% is the minimum we should expect but it should be more.

I cannot for the life of me why some feel its necessary to denigrate you at every opportunity.
FYI, i am a member of Wolverhampton and District Amal and am working at a MC/DO which has over a 1000 peeps working there, with a CWU membership of 95% and whilst yes we have our moans and groans are capable of looking after ourselves and our unions interest.
We have had our P/L revision, with every single postie on 36 hours or more and all payments paid, and all short term contacts made permanent. Only a strong local branch with decent reps has helped to achieve this.
Perhaps one or two of your denigrators should relax a tad , ease of the keyboard and get stuck in insteadof sniping from the sidelines.
Well said - at long last someone who is prepared to come on here and make a valid point.
At least Dingo has the bottle to argue with those on this forum who just want to have a dig.
When you read some of the responses to Dingo's posts, you wonder why he bothers.
Long may he continue! (although I wouldn't blame him if he gave up and left this board to fester.)
Debate:
1.a discussion, as of a public question in an assembly, involving opposing viewpoints:
2.a formal contest in which the affirmative and negative sides of a proposition are advocated by opposing speakers.
3.deliberation; consideration.

Perhaps this is the problem with this site, opposing views are castigated from so called experienced posters.

Or the problem could be that some cannot accept that there are differing views and some do not subscribe to pandering.
labbloke and vanman.
Both of you are involved with the union to some extent.
Both of you are trying to stifle debate.
Are you aware how completely opposed those two positions should be?

Isn't that exactly what you and vanman are doing?
Castigating opposing views?
At least i try to keep my views relevant to the subject rather than a vague and to be honest rather cowardly attack on "some posters" and the site in general.
If you mean me say me.
Like dingo..i'm a big boy,i can fight my own battles.
