our revision could be january ? i am currently on 36 hrs if i stay on the same or go to full time would it be an option for me to go to 4 days and have a long weekend every 3 weeks,or is this more suitable for staff on 32 hrs or less cant see why i cant do 0600 -1500 hrs or 0530 - 15.15 hrs.meercat wrote:Hi all,
I've looked at the 'Menu of Duty Options' and see that there is a 4 day week option for three FULLTIME staff covering 2 walks, one of which is a floater?
My question is would this duty option work for 30hr contracts? So they would work 7hr 30min days and if that would be 3 staff covering 2 duties they would have about 5hrs for delivery and 2hrs for prep or partial prep with 30mins meal relief.
Have I understood this correctly and can anyone see any problems with that that would need ironing out if part timers were doing this option?
Thanks all.

No you don't have that right. Look at the Duty Options 'example 6' suggested by CWU here:
http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... TY+OPTIONS" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Each 4day a week duty should have a 5day weekend once every 3 weeks - fri/sat/sun/mon/tues.
The way you have laid it out will work yes but doesn't give the long weekend and there is no benifit to loosing the long weekend for anybody.
Also you don't need to lay out 6weeks of attendance for the planners as it repeats every 3weeks so it is actually '1 in 3 Sats off'.

It depends on there being enough work for you from 0600. If there isn't according to planners then to achieve 4 day week you would have to start later eg 9am and do a collection after your delivery giving you a finish time of 6pm. That is what CWU have suggested with a 39hr 4 day week on the Duty Options (see link in above post). You will need 3 staff on the same hours to cover TWO 4 day a week dutys in any office as far as I can see.

Re: 4 day week for 30hr contracts possible?
Our PT contracts only work a three day week on cover, that's Thu, Fri, Sat enabling full timers to have a 1 in 3 Sats off they do 8hrs 20. Is it fair.............well it was put to a vote, of part timers of course who preferred it to the alternatives..................which I forget at the moment.
