True but in this case it is not for anyone personal benefit except to be treated right and get the wages that people are owed its not asking to much, and get their correct money and payslips. And at this late stage anyone with any sense wouldnt start at all.

Personally if i was in the majority of your positions i wouldn't particularly give a f**k about what their contract says but...i believe everyone should be aware of the full picture.

Thanks to Angard withdrawing my application themselves 14.1 or any of the of contractual obligation do not apply to me. Those who are owed money can use Angards contract to prove that Angard themselves are in breach of contract for not paying them.

That clause in the casuals contract (for the few that actually got one or even found someone at Angard who wanted in back even when signed) cannot be regarded as any defence or deterrent when the complaint of the employee is relating to the Illegal activities of Angard and its parent company Royal Mail. I tried to hand my signed copy to Angard rep on more than one occasion to be met with total dis-interest.

Non-payment of wages and With holding of Wages are illegal, it's as simple as that.

I cannot even think that they will try to "hide" behind this, it would be laughable.

Angard are guilty of breaches of contract on thousands of occasions so far this year.

Based on my personal experience of the attitude and lack of action by Royal Mail mangers on this matter, Royal Mail must be regarded as complicit in Angards actions and are equally guilty in this respect.

If something is not done they will collectively "steal" tens of thousands of £s of casuals wages this Xmas.

So far "errors" increase week on week, previous "errors" not corrected, same "error" made again and again at increasing number of sites.

This goes beyond incompetence.

Senior management in Royal Mail and Angard have known for weeks what has been going on, but it continues week after week. None of them can try to pretend "I didn't know about this". How many of us have contacted them, I know I did. Promises made, not kept !

This situation has been allowed to continue and grow.

Somebody or Somebodies has/have decided to take no action on these issues, I can't imagine any other possible explanation.

Happy Xmas Angard and Royal Mail I hope you're pleased with yourselves, messing with peoples lives and causing endless worry and stress for those affected.

Despite the anger of those posting on this forum you need to remember that only about 100 people contacted the Guardian's journalist. It is very unlikely based on that figure and the number of people actively posting on here that you would get even a significant minority, let alone a majority, of the 18 to 24 thousand Xmas casuals to come out on strike. Personally I think that demonstrations by those who have not been paid or who have been turned away after being told that they had jobs would be more likely to embarass RM, particularly if you made sure that the local press and TV stations were informed about when you intended to carry out the protests/demonstrations. Those who take part must expect, of course, to be summarily dismissed by Angard or RM local management. The nature of casual work makes doing so perfectly possible for the employer and would leave the affected individuals with no recourse other than an Employment Tribunal (which could be months away). I don't wish to deter anyone from taking whatever action they feel is most appropriate for them - I left because I won't be treated like that by anyone - but I would urge people to consider the likely consequences of their actions and not just get carried away on a wave of righteous indignation however justified they may feel.

I thought that was a joke? :/ If Casuals go on strike, they'll either get replaced or add pressure to the present workers. In Ely there's only 4 Angard temps, mostly RM staff and a few Manpower employees. You might as well just walk out really :(

Its a real proposition that would make people take notice, it just depends on how many actually have the nerve to go ahead, or how many will say they are prepared, then turn up for work anyway.
It would hit mail delivery targets, which is all RM are interested in.

To be fair unless it was a business wide co-ordinated strike it is pointless.
Angard will simply terminate your secondment and bring in more casuals.
If a small group want to make some headlines the best course of action would be a sit-in protest but you have to be prepared for the consequences which could mean being forcibly removed by the police.
Looks good on the telly though...

Like Leonard69 I left Angard as I was no longer preared to accept being lied to, not just by Angard, but by Royal Mail managers as well.

In the weeks that followed I have probably been labelled as something unrepeatable by management in Angard and Royal Mail.

The point made by Leonard69 about the number us that actually contacted the journalists is perfectly valid and well made, yes it is disappointing that more did not respond.

But if those that did make contact with the press manage to achieve an improvement in the current appalling situation, every Angard Casual will benefit.

Leonard69 is right, every person should carefully consider their actions before deciding how to proceed.

No-one should feel forced into doing something that they disagree with.

But simply accepting what Angard and Royal Mail do to thousands of people each week, and for those people to feel that "there is nothing we can do", is a perfect example of people being "forced" by the "big boys" to accept something they disagree with, but feel powerless to do anything about.

But everyone should remember what is being done each week with each payroll, is not just wrong it is illegal and cannot be accepted, that is what Angard wants you do, just accept it and give in.

Like Leonard69 I urge people to think carefully and consider their actions, "do you want to be treated like this again and again", think about it.

But does not the potential headline "Thousands of Temporary Employees Not Paid by Royal Mail at Xmas" sound interesting, I think it would cause a great deal of "embaressment" for the somebodies. Particularly as they have only just posted an apology on their website for the recent online overcharging of customers.
