Weird pay offer of 6.7% over 2 years is and will still be below rate of inflation if split.
They have added more strings. I thought the idea was to bring the parties closer together not further apart.
What I think we should do is:
A. All out 1 dayers (everyone in rmail).
B. Area 1 Day strikes (but multiple areas)
C. Function strikes as before
D. 1 Hour strikes at either end of beginning or perhaps even the middle of a shift.
But do all 4 on a random basis so that RM cant plan with any certainty.

Possibility - if its in an agreed pay rise they can't take it back surely. If the offer us say 5% from April 2008 (tatt wrote:Saw a management e-mail this morning that states -
In addition, we proposed to the CWU that we use the money accrued over a number of years through the ESOS scheme to top up this years pay by another half a percent, with the possibility of incorporating this into ongoing pay from April 2008 in return for further change.
Bit different to our Unions version

Wouldn't the 7 day notice screws the random factor? What I think we should do is:
A. All out 1 dayers (everyone in rmail).
B. Area 1 Day strikes (but multiple areas)
C. Function strikes as before
D. 1 Hour strikes at either end of beginning or perhaps even the middle of a shift.

The more I read on here the more I think that RM are running rings around the CWU.

Yes but what about the double play of saying we will strike on Tuesday (All out 1 dayer) Wednesday (Areas strike) but in fact at the last minute cancel one of them, all the managers would be in the wrong placesdogfood wrote:Wouldn't the 7 day notice screws the random factor? What I think we should do is:

That is a good strategy and one that has been mentioned before - BUT - are we obliged to tell them what TIME we are striking or just what day?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Yes but what about the double play of saying we will strike on Tuesday (All out 1 dayer) Wednesday (Areas strike) but in fact at the last minute cancel one of them, all the managers would be in the wrong placesdogfood wrote:Wouldn't the 7 day notice screws the random factor? What I think we should do is:

Deliveries could strike from start to 4 hours in and the next day 4 hours in to finish - the backlog would be horrendous in just 24 hours - used in conjunction with everyone else it would be a ball breaker.
The exact time could be decided on the day - ie - walk in, walk out and picket - 4 hours later walk in again. Next day walk in stay 4 hours later walk out stay out.

Had a text from my area rep this morning, I'd like to say the whole thing stinks! Who wants to go into work in the morning and not know what they're doing? Was this mentioned in the previous round of talks? Why are we bothering to talk to RM? It's as clear as day, that they don't give a toss for their workforce or they would'nt try to force all this shite on us, two fingers to flexible working!!!!
The July 07 pension plan that never was (yeah right) is now being re-tabled... surprise, surprise! Less benefit, more contributions, work longer! I was looking forward to my retirement.....whenever that is!!!!!!!

Lions led by Donkeys -that was used about British Soldiers about the Great War, then Scargill was compared to a WW1 General by Kinnock. Senior Mgt talk of the miner's strike , posters on here make that comparsion . Sooner Hayes goes the better . Union haven't really moved forward in 5 years and thier leadership out of touch, isolated and over-centralized . Same old story, same chapter from RM .I agree with upping the ante as suggested , planned lightening strikes for a hour , imaginative?. :lfo :cfo

I think this is bollocks,we need to up the ante NOW!The RM completely ignored the so called period of calm while the talks were on and the national leadership did nothing, the period of calm is now over strikes should have been announced yesterday. If our delivery office is anything like others the leadership is not refecting the views of its members.LETS GET OUT!!

-We'd this with the "corrupt right" with the RMT. The late Jimmy Knapp used to dismiss criticisim of selling out by the left as hysterical stuff that's been thought up by people who've been in the pub too long. Sorry but not all of them were headbangers who'd been on the pop. The RMT was overcentralized with too many old duffers @ Unity House paid out of our subs . This is like a early 90's dispute , so it's the only language they understand scenario with :lfo :cfo , if we're turning the clock back if you will. There isn't many choices, one of them is all of us walking round like John Wayne . The RMT went to the left with Crowe , there wasn't much choice. Get Real Hayes !leelatic wrote:I think this is bollocks,we need to up the ante NOW!The RM completely ignored the so called period of calm while the talks were on and the national leadership did nothing, the period of calm is now over strikes should have been announced yesterday. If our delivery office is anything like others the leadership is not refecting the views of its members.LETS GET OUT!!

Yes i agree, the main thing for me at the moment is the bullsh*t about pensions, yeh you know the one, the leaked document to the national press that Royal Mail denied as rubbish and untrue ? OH that has suddenly reappeared from royal mail at the so called talks. If thats not enough to go out for i hope these strike breakers are happy to work for another few years (probably because us picketers just work for the love of the company not the money) COME CWU ANNOUNCE NOW STRIKE ACTION AND TELL EVERYONE ABOUT OUR PENSIONS GETTING SCREWED, PAPERS,RADIO and TV :cfo :lfo

Billy Hayes visited our office seven years ago when I was the rep. After speaking to many members he said "I get the impression that this union is more out of touch with the members now than at any other time that I can remember." He might have been right, but one thing is certain, he became more out of touch from the minute he became General Secretary. Insteadof hob nobbing with Blair or Brown, he should get his arse around the country and get the real feeling of the membership rather than have it deflected away from him by those under him. He only got the job because he wasn't John Keggie.norbet colon wrote:Lions led by Donkeys -that was used about British Soldiers about the Great War, then Scargill was compared to a WW1 General by Kinnock. Yes totally agree with you about Billy hayes, he came down to our office in portsmouth a few years back when we walked out for a week because they tried to make us take in scab mail and he made loads of promises then, just goes to show he only got in because Keggie was such a W*ANKER :lfo :cfoIWW Fellow Worker wrote:Billy Hayes visited our office seven years ago when I was the rep.
