I was angry before, ***********ing angry now!

We get 30 mins break for an 8 hr shift, so paid 7.5hrs. I read that some people are on 40 min breaks.

There was a manager at the mail centre going round talking to the casuals about pay issues & I thought that something was going to be done, but all he said was that this is the best number to phone.....Well yeah but we know the number blah blah blah!!!

Just for the record, I didn't say that we should walk out, yes I know that this is 2011 & there are loads of people "waiting to take our jobs". Actually in hindsight, they are probably the lucky ones. Yes we do need to protest. Facebook is fine but we need proper action. This Monday is the busy day at RM, so..... I have been asked to work overtime that day & if I haven't been paid by then......well if you think I will be doing that then........ :whistle

I worked at the SWDC outside Bristol on 21/11 for seven hours until the managers told us to go home. Apparently we shouldn't have turned up to work at all despite 21/11 being our 'provisional' start date.
Anyway, I got a call from someone at Angard a week later asking for my banking details. I said that I had already provided these to Angard. The person from Angard said that she knew this but Angard was creating a database so that all was in order for when we did start working. Next Friday I got paid for seven hours work.
Something fishy going on here. Where is that paperwork with my banking details on it? It obviously didn't ever make it from Severn Beach to Northampton the central place for all their 'admin'.
Angard have botched this whole thing up and it's time they answered for all the mess they've created. Everyone who's been messed around needs to make their voice heard: write to Angard, write to your local MP, write to the newspapers, write to the BBC. Angard needs to be taken to the cleaners. They've ruined Christmas for thousands of people.
Watch the Guardian this Monday (12/12). Hopefully this will be the start...

We have to stand together on this one and all take action if we want to see any kind of retribution. Email your local papers, join the Facebook group, email the national presses (Guardian and Telegraph are apparently running something but keep your stories flowing to them), contact the BBC, write to your local MP, write to or phone ACAS (08457 474747), write to the Minister for Employment (Ed Davies: mpst.davey@bis.gsi.gov.uk).

We've all made our voices heard thanks to social media, but it now needs to move beyond the online forums.

We have to kick up the fuss and make people listen to what our experiences have been. Apathy is not an option.

Evil triumphs when good people do nothing.

Actually, as suggested by someone on another thread I went straight to the top of Royal Mail with an email (Moya Greene), explaining that I have done the Christmas Casual work since 2000, etc, etc and then spend the next few hours in email conversation with Moya with the last two emails being:

I am not joking...we have had a few problems for which I apologise sincerely. You have a positive track record with Royal Mail. If you still want to come with us for Christmas, please call ********* and *******
Moya

I hope you are only `joking` because if not and even if you are, this is a serious situation for the Royal Mail to be in in the present climate. Maybe I should inform the Prime Minister by his email system. My father used to work at the York Mail Centre as a PHG until he retired in the mid-1970s and I have to say that the present Royal Mail is an absolute DISGRACE compared with when he worked for RM.

At the present rate of progress privatisation would be the best thing for the modern Royal Mail, and I have no hesitation saying that after the debacle on, of which I have joined in with as well, on ROYALMAILCHAT.

An absolute DISGRACE of a public company.

John

Then had a phone call from someone at Angard (gave me his name and telephone number) saying he had been instructed by Moya Greene to get my contract and start date through for a date that I wanted to start on (I choose today, Monday 12th December for the 6an shift) and promised to sort it immediately. If I didn`t receive anything to contact him again before the weekend. I haven`t as i can`t see the sense in starting for what would be 10 days work. I should have started on the 2nd December. I think Angard are deciding themselves who should and who should not be working at RM and ignoring what they have been told, if anything or they are just `total idiots`.

I agree

keeping your head down and being happy to collect a pittance while being treated like dirt, is just what angard want. A walkout would shake them to the core

I don't work for royal mail because they wouldn't provide for me, or reimburse, a pair of safety shoes. If i was working there now and hearing the stories on here of people messed around and not being paid wages, I'd walk out.
I agree ANGARD STAFFING SOLUTIONS are completely inept, dysfunctional, have no payroll system to pay its extremely hardworking casuals and all its self-serving directors should be sacked immediately and return all their bonuses to Royal Mail for distribution amongst the casual staff!
