Re: STRIKE FOR CASUALS CONFIRMED ON THE 18th!!!
you would need to hit them where it hurt's.. 1 OUT,,All OUT.
Its the only way to make sure this fiasco never happens again, Even royal mail know they would be crippled by this sort of action, i for 1 would deffo be up for it at eurocentral.
and as Live said,, a picket line is a must.
Any show of hands for hitting them on the 21 december / eurocentral / 2-10 shift ????

Cannot see the point in this on the 18th - it is a Sunday and not many Angard casuals seem to work on Sunday. A different day on the otherhand ....

I've got a better day, this Monday, cos it's the "busy" day. Everybody does their cards this weekend. Everybody is in that day & has been asked to work overtime & IF we haven't been paid by then......Well?!

The 18th is a Sunday so what's the point.... we need a better day and one closer to xmas so that they have little to no chance of getting replacements!! Anyway, as much as I like the idea, I doubt a strike will happen, not every casual knows about this site or posts and if only the few that do know of it decide to take action in the way of a strike.... the vast majority that don't will keep working!!

Re: STRIKE FOR CASUALS CONFIRMED ON THE 18th!!!
18th is no good.
Try going for Monday 19th,12:00 walkout, just when the relief collections start coming in, and stay out from then. Mondays are the busiest days for collections and processing, last one before x-mas when everyone sends their last-minute cards etc.
Hit them across the main processing on Monday night, tuesdays mail will fail to be delivered.
Leave it much later and the peak volume of mail will have passed, and the regulars will cope OK with it.
I am all for it, but EVERY casual in your mail centre MUST be told about it, turn up and picket the gates.
And remember brothers-ONE OUT_ALL OUT

Re: STRIKE FOR CASUALS CONFIRMED ON THE 18th!!!
sorry what? how can you have a strike for non union employees?
Seriously if im not paid next Friday, I wont go into work the following Monday (ill check my account before im due to leave, just in case), but that is my personal action, not that of a strike.
That said if the Royal Mail employees who are part of a union, strike in sympathy, obviously I would stand with them.

Re: STRIKE FOR CASUALS CONFIRMED ON THE 18th!!!
You can. A strike in its most basic form is individuals withdrawing Labour to highlight a dispute with their employer. But I would say that anyone thinking of taking part in any such action do some research into the possible consequences of unofficial or unprotected industrial action. Including RM employees.wamdue wrote:sorry what? how can you have a strike for non union employees?
Sympathetic strikes were made illegal (and therefore unprotected) by Mad Maggie, but a lot of CWU members would refuse to cross a picket line, official or unofficial. Just check out the questions and queries on the main forums about doing so before the recent public sector strikes.wamdue wrote:That said if the Royal Mail employees who are part of a union, strike in sympathy, obviously I would stand with them
