Yes, we CAN'T do anything when it comes to delivery, but THINK OUTSIDE OF THE DELIVERY BOX - open your eyes.
When you SEE that your manager is INTENTIONALLY delaying mail, make a formal complaint and get the f***ing idiot disciplined or sacked.
When posties CLEARLY see that managers are f***ing around and breaking the Conduct Code on day to day basis, they should COMPLAIN to every f***ing place possible.
One of the reasons why RM has retarded managers is because posties fail to complain about the "work ethic" of their managers and it just carries on and on. Personally, the maximum I've seen posties is do is whisper to each other how they don't like this and that, but they never do anything about it...
Hopefully, I'm wrong and there are people who stand up for themselves and obey the rules, but they are the minority...At least, that's how I see it.

Re: Epic fail
I'm the only one at my office of 150+ what cuts off, it's a bit annoying as I get abuse from everybody, but I have things to do after work. My office is full of moaners, but ppl don't stand up for themselfs and would rather be out all day, they say to me it's Christmas, but I say it's up to managers to get extra staff and vans to cope.

In my experience 90% of posties are superb at complaining amongst themselves and then lose the function of their tongues come WTL etc. The posties left to complain are then tagged by management as trouble makers for pointing out the obvious. I remember one morning in my office some tracked came in after 8 and the PHG was reluctant to sort them for the drivers. The manager (PHG's tea buddy) was happy to wait until the next day for them to go, even though the drivers were due back and could still do them. I reminded the manager that a service has been paid for and that members of the public would be waiting on these items, but hcame back at me explaining this was at Royal Mails discretion.
I threatened to make the complaint official and the york was sorted straight away!
The blame for cuts stands at a local offices door, not those drawing the cuts up. If people don't make a stand the management will continue to do a terrible job and get a bonus each time. The public suffer and job cuts continue.

Re: Epic fail
It's the general public that need to be told about it and the MPs. Get the externals involved and all of a sudden the problem disappears because RM have had extra staff hired to resolve a delivery situation etc.
Downside of that is, RM like to make out that it's the fault of the "lazy" posties, rather than management cutting back to skeletal staffing levels which simply isn't enough.

Re: Epic fail
Someone really should be held accountable and sacked for this logistical mismanagement that is the ongoing farce of uneven daily volumes.
I know its a well worn subject as far as letters are concerned but its now just as bad with pkts... Mon, Tues,Weds this week our D.O. had considerabely below average numbers of pkts coming in, then suddenly Thurs + Fri we've been completely swamped with them. Theres no way everyone in the country suddenly decided to go out and post all their pkts on weds!
Its obvious there is some kind of bottle-neck in the system causing things to get backed up then the floodgates get opened and we get inundated.

Re: Epic fail
Yeah, that's the sad truth. Unfortunately, as secluder said, most of the posties don't care THAT much to make any big difference to the way how Royal Mail works OR at least how their specific office operates. The funny thing is that WE are the ones who do the main job, and if we were to do everything by the book, then nothing would get done, as everyone would constantly cut off due to lack of time/crazy workloads.
Only then SOMETHING would change, hopefully towards the good side, but again, no one gives a s**t or has the courage to speak up, so it will all get worse year after year.
The managers are heavily relying on those who are willing to work 10-12 hours/day and on those who don't know jack s**t about RM's policies, so they get used like dogs.

Things get sold on ebay/bought on websites on Saturdays and Sundays, posted out on Mondays and Tuesdays... they just get to the DOs by Weds/Thurs/Fri.wacko74 wrote:Someone really should be held accountable and sacked for this logistical mismanagement that is the ongoing farce of uneven daily volumes.

Perhaps RM should do a special offer, customers that post on a Thursday/Friday for delivery Monday/Tuesday should get a small discount.TeeferTiger wrote:Things get sold on ebay/bought on websites on Saturdays and Sundays, posted out on Mondays and Tuesdays... they just get to the DOs by Weds/Thurs/Fri.wacko74 wrote:Someone really should be held accountable and sacked for this logistical mismanagement that is the ongoing farce of uneven daily volumes.

I'm happy to go over - I'm happy to "go that extra mile" (as in going back to try again with undeliverables if they're on my way back to DO/Post Office) - as long as I get paid for it - and I have to say I've NEVER had any probs with booking docket and getting paid for it - I'll certainly do it at this time of year - have you seen the queues at Callers Offices - yes you have ...
I guess it's a "choice thing" ...

That'd just shift the problem from one end of the week to another. Then people claiming compo because the item didn't arrive within X amount of days if we take longer to get it there etc.Stormproof wrote:Perhaps RM should do a special offer, customers that post on a Thursday/Friday for delivery Monday/Tuesday should get a small discount.TeeferTiger wrote:Things get sold on ebay/bought on websites on Saturdays and Sundays, posted out on Mondays and Tuesdays... they just get to the DOs by Weds/Thurs/Fri.wacko74 wrote:Someone really should be held accountable and sacked for this logistical mismanagement that is the ongoing farce of uneven daily volumes.

Re: Epic fail
this is my first xmas as a postie and i must say im not a massive fan of the amount of packets we as posties have to deliver at this time of year. surely the best possible way of dealing with packets during December would be to just leave a p739?
like many have you have said "have you seen the queue in the callers office" well thats my point id say a good 60% average packets get p739 anyway. so its like "you have a packet, go pick it up when you have time"

Re: Epic fail
I don't believe this year will be a failure
All packets will be delivered on time
And they will be no cut-offs this year
Oh wait xmas pressure hasn't begun yet and some people have already cut
