Re: Worth turning up with just a provisonal offer?
I turned up last night at Exeter with just prov offer and got let in fine and did my first shift without problems.
I had concerns naturally about whether I was working for free as you mention above so I can only go on my shift manager's assurance that by signing up on my first shift last night, I have no entered a contract and legally I must now be paid for the work I do. I'll try and get extra clarification tonight from the manager about exactly how it works - does the time sheets go to Angard and they pay on that basis and how can I be paid by Angard without them giving me any formal offer/contract??
That's the Angard issue...
I am trying to chase up Angard but the jerks never answer so I'll keep bugging them.
Ultimately, the work is needed, I'm willing to do it, Exeter RM want me and I'll cross my fingers that I get paid and work the next few shifts until I can work out the complications and whether I could be def working for free.

Re: Worth turning up with just a provisonal offer?
i was advised by angard on this matter 9.30 am as i,m due to start at 10pm tonight. my email status still reads processing security checks, i have the provisional offer in writing from interview stage but thats it, no contract? no contract means no pay and that was from an angard representartive. i do hope it works out for you but i,m not risking spending anymore of my time or money on this goose chase...good luckhowardjones88 wrote:I turned up last night at Exeter with just prov offer and got let in fine and did my first shift without problems.

Cheers pal - yeah I've got no other work on the horizon so I'm turning up and gambling it'll work out and I'll get paid.
It seems to be one big lottery!

Yeah I was also sent home along with about 5 or 6 others last night from Exeter. I had worked four night shifts since Sunday and yet it was only until last night that my shift manager told me that I had not yet been security checked by Angard and could not work til clearance - all I had been working on was my prov offer which had been acceptable til last night. Shambles. By the time, I'm cleared it will probably be January!
I'm told that I shall be paid for those four shifts but I am dubious that I'll be paid anything let alone correctly - it seems that Angard are unaccountable with no email replies and there numbers just ring and ring and ring.
Anyway, I used my frustration constructively when I got home last night and pinged off several e-mails to journalists and my local MP about Angard - I just want to see them get smashed in the press and for heads to roll so that this is never repeated. I feel so angry for people in more desperate situations than myself trying to support families over Xmas and we have all been treated like stock.
