DID NOT TAKE UP OFFER

Post by evansr »

After waiting weeks and hearing nothing, then suddenly offered a job at another location, which was different to the location agreed, I decided not to take up their offer for work. It was amazing how at lightening speed my job status was updated to APPLICATION WITHDRAWN, the very next day, considering it said SECURITY CHECKS IN PROGRESS for over 5 weeks!! I am happy I did not start working for RM through this outfit ANGARD, it is complete and utter shambles. Another thing if you manage to get a job, with RM direct your hourly rate is a good whole £3 more. Come on £6.58 in 2011, this is daylight robbery!!! Good luck eveyone.......

Hi
I didnt take up the offer, I was looking forward to getting back into work mode and at 59 there are not many doors open to you. At the cattle market interview I was offered Sun-Thursday 10 pm- 6am, after loads of phone calls all I got on my e-mail was Monday, what good is that if you dont know for sure if you will be needed any other night.

I wouldnt trust Angard at all seen plenty of people either not paid at all or were short in their pay. Another thing I think all our paperwork should be sent back to us at their cost so at least we know for sure its destroyed.

At least we have learnt one lesson.........and that is never go to Angard again lets hope Royal Mail gets rid off this branch of their company before its pulls them down into the gutter.

Hope we all have a good christmas we all need it

Dave

Hi
Well update, had a look at my on-line status and even though I let them know I wasn't taking up their offer and that was three days ago my status still shows that a offer was made and agreed. And about 5pm I got a phone call from Angard accounts wanting to make sure they have the right bank account details for me so that I get my wages ummmm strange seeing that if I had started I wouldnt have got paid until next week... :d'oh!

This whole farce could easily have been avoided if Royal Mail had followed their tried and trusted method of employing Christmas help that had worked for many years.

For 3 weeks work does having to many people really matter in the grand scheme of things? Why not employ more than you need? Last years weather really showed that unforeseen events can really screw whatever grand plans are in place and not blowing my own trumpet it was a huge effort by everyone regulars and casuals that managed to get some resemblance of a service for many. Although in my area, Kent, disputes at a local delivery office caused even more chaos!

This years tinkering with the system and stupid penny pinching as always has left RM exposed as never before, if we do have weather problems; and as I write its not looking good outside, will there be enough cover? I very much doubt it and its not just that, those of us on the job feel let down and used. I have been working as a casual for over a year and since Angard has taken over any goodwill I had has evaporated.

For many, like the previous post getting work at 59 is hard enough but what Angard/RM have failed epically on is the management of peoples expectations. The failure, even on the most basic level to recognise that we are people with lives and responsibilities, trying to do our best to earn money. Royal Mail our proud to display a plaque in reception showing their "Investors in People" award, I would have it removed as soon as possible as false advertising.

If the casualisation of the workforce is the way forward for RM and other industries then the whole process need tighter regulation, I hope that the whole sorry saga of this year does get a huge media coverage and questions are asked in Government. Its long overdue.

I got a phone call from Angard yesterday at 0830. It is safe to say that i told them i was not interested in anything they had to offer at which point she said that they need my address???? I gave them 6 different documents with my address on at "the interview" aka regestration. I told them i want all of my paperwork sent back, they said they would speak with their line manager and call back. I have had no phone call but my online status has been upadated for the first time since the 10th October. It now says "APPLICATION WITHDRAWN"
Anyone think i will get my documents back? :arrrghhh
