the CUT OFFS they stay in office at our place and managers av agood laugh cuz they ain't bothered! wilful delay springs to mind but on who's head?jockstrapp wrote:osgoody1970 wrote:but the point is, the work is tenfold at xmas compared to normal times, that's why we get a bonus and in my opinion, the fact that it has remained at £100 for the last 20 odd years, speaks volumes on how royal mail value us, managers get 20 times the amount and don't deliver a single letter!!!!
They will be out delivering my CUT OFFs![]()

A bit of controversy about help for heroes at the minute, you are better to donate to a regimental charity or blesma,RBL or the Army Benevolent fund or to the RAF or RN,Royal Marinesfeduppostie wrote:well if you truly feel it is an insult then donate it to help for heroes
i'm sure they would be happy with it

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth because it's better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick!
Remember it's a bonus not a right! Some companies don't pay bonuses!
No iam sure thats not true. If it was you would see the deduction on your payslip each week, legal requirement.

Sure you're not confusing this with the buying of extra annual leave?tolkien wrote:when i started many years ago , i was told the bonus !!! was paid for by our wages being deducted slightly every week , is thyis not true then??

Re: Christmas Bonus
No the Christmas bonus is not deducted from your weekly wages.
It is a bonus leave over from the old IWM scheme. Offices back then could be on very Christmas bonus , when the sceme ended a number of quite high lump sums were paid to staff and Xmas bonus was capped at £100 all be it a sizeable number of units got as little as £42.
The PBS scheme back in 2000 topped up some of the offices up to an £100 and a few years ago the union reached an agreement that every office has been topped up to an hundred.
The christmas bonus is still largely known as the ex IWM Xmas bonus .

We got something like that for years. We used to hear that some London offices were getting up to £300. Dont know if that was ever true thoughdingo wrote:little as £42

Course it was. They got paid in gold bullion, taken out for dinner at a 5* restaurant and then they all got limo rides home too...krussel wrote:We got something like that for years. Re: Christmas Bonus
For the record and I know its differcult for people on here to believe, there was a civil war in the union happening over IWM improved Working methods where some would not go into the scheme even when it was madatory.
There was far more rows over this then even the way forward , letting lone the BTA agreement.
I know in London there was a massive split where some offices refused to agree IWM and where others did the deal very early and got lots of money. One of the legends of the UCW Taylor who help lead the support to the Grunwick works was in favour of IWM.
In London offices were split and friendships were broken over the issue , some offices made a fortune others would not enter into it even when it became mandatory.
It was not just London who gained out of IWM , lots of offices did deals around it and lots opposed it. However it still makes up part of your basic pay as it was cosolidated and equally your xmas bonus.
I know if a board had existed like this back then it would have made the oppostion to the Business Transformation agreement seem like a tea party.
The reality of the scheme is you got a share of any hours which were lost in the office paid weekly and of course the less producitive offices got more out of it but it was not just London who reaped the benefits.

Re: Christmas Bonus
Well the £100 seems niggardly in this day and age compared to what RM will be making on the christmas post this year.

Re: Christmas Bonus
Well Dvbuk at least that is something we can both agree on ! But notwithstanding the fact that the cwu has been trying to increase the Christmas bonus for the last 5 years what do you believe the cwu should do and get support from members .
A strike to get more than the bonus ?
Or some other tactic

Re: Christmas Bonus
While i do think that it would be good to increase the Christmas bonus i think given what we are facing and will be facing it should be way down the list of priorities.
