Returning as a Manager
We have been informed that we are to have a new manager in 2 weeks time, our new manager is someone who was a postman in our office and has a brother who is still working there, do you think this is right ? The bloke concerned and his brother have had numerous run ins with other postmen and we feel that he is back now and is out to score points by gaining revenge. Is there anything we can do to stop it happening.

Re: Returning as a Manager
We've had the same thing in our office for years! We turn up to a union meeting, and His Masters Voice is there undermining anything anyone has to say with his "We can't win!" "It's not the 70s!". We know he goes back to his brother telling him who said what etc. Watch yourselves! This pair are a right set of company goons and have been from the minute they started.dazza21 wrote:We have been informed that we are to have a new manager in 2 weeks time, our new manager is someone who was a postman in our office and has a brother who is still working there, do you think this is right ? We have had exactly the same type of nob in our office. He started stabbing his mates in the back withing days of getting the job. Trouble is, although they came bitching to me about it ( I'm a Rep), they still hang around with him.pilsbury wrote:This happens all the time in our office, some twat who was crap at the job deicides he wants to be a manager and then gets put in charge of the lads he use to work along side of.It never works no one shows them an ounce of respect and their soon reminded of what they were once like.![]()

Nearly all the managers in my office came up through the ranks, and everyone one of them was and still are bone idle twats with no backbone.

They're dodgy gets. We had one who was caught asleep in his house with a van full of parcels on the road outside. It din't hold his career back though, neither did being found out hiding his second delivery between two bags on the packet frame. Another one lied about someone on the sick swearing at him on the phone, was found to be lying and had the whole thing hushed up by the present DUM who himself lost a bag of registered letters and got away with it because he was seen as a rising star so the then DUM kept it quiet. The stories I could tell about the sharks I've seen passing through our office since 1980!

We have a manager who has a relative who not only works at the same office, but is a paying tenant at said manager's house. If the bloke repeatedly fails to show up for his SA, and risks having it taken off him, guess which manager he appeals to ? Yep, the one who would suffer financially if his tenant got banned from overtimenelson wrote:In the managing framework document (think it is called that) you can not manage an office if you have a close relative working there, conflict of interest.![]()

But you have to be a mindless moron to survive as a manager.Fluke wrote:South East Postie wrote:on the other side of the coin, we have one guy who was a postman, now a manager. hes only 25. was massive union guy. know what? during the strikes he stood alongside us out on the line - even on his day off. he has been in serious trouble with local management for it but he said if i cant have a mind of my own then you can stick your job.![]()
Just shows, you don't have to be a mindless moron to be a manager, its a pity we haven't got more like him.
