I'm interested in the part about the guy called Paul who bought safety boots. Do you know if he was told by angard to bring safety shoes when he started ? and if he was going to be reimbursed the cost ?

Umm... I'm not 100% sure who told him to buy the safety boots (i'm guessing it was Angard though). Hopefully he will see this thread soon and be able to tell you.

Hi

If safety footwear is stated as being necessary by the "employer" following an appropriaate Risk Assessment, then it is the employers responsibility to provide the required Safety Footwear.

Employees cannot be asked to provide their own safety footwear, this is to ensure that all safety footwear meets the necessary requirements as prescribed by the Risk Assessment.

Employees cannot be asked to contribute towards these costs.

This is the law !

But that does not seem to deter Angard or RMG from telling casuals to provide their own and even refuusing access to site for casuals who do not have safety footwear.

This is just another example of their (Angard/RMG) complete disregard for the law and appropriate treatment of employees.

If anyone working at a site where safety footwear is deemed necessary, has paid for their own safety footwear then they should submit a claim to Angard for reimbursement.

Hope this clarifies things.

You may be required to wear protective clothing or equipment during your secondment e.g. high visibility jackets or safety boots. You will be advised before commencing your secondment if these are necessary. If protective clothing or equipment is required for your secondment and you do not own the necessary clothing/equipment it will be provided to you, either by Angard or Royal Mail.

Myself and another person turned up 01 dec 2011 at hatfield distribution centre but was turned away because we did not have safety shoes. We were told to buy them ourselves from shoezone!

I hope this will encourage other people to go to the press about Angard too. I tried really hard to get it in a national newspaper, I'm quite disappointed that I didn't manage it...I'm also disappointed with the story, I told the reporter so much stuff and told him it was happening all over the country but hey ho, I just have to sit and wait now and hope that something positive will come out of this whole shitty situation

Well done loobs at least it made the press but like everything "todays news, tomorrows chip paper". I tried a while ago to get something on "Martins Money" forum about job seeking and employment but it drifted down the posts and was taken over by trolls.

Sad to say I don't think anyone gives a sh~t to be honest. BUT who-betide anyone that has tried in vain to get work this Christmas at RM to be called "workshy or dole scrounger" :dcfo
