I attended my Angard interview back in September and was allocated a driving job to start 5th December. I awaited a confirmation email and realized from reading this forum that it might not arrive until close to the start date, if at all! So I waited patiently and sure enough it arrived on Monday 28th November- to start Monday 5th December.
I thought I had been lucky as everything had gone smoothly compared to some I've read about on here.
Then today (Friday) I get a phone call from the delivery office telling me not to turn up as there is no work for me at all. So I'm unemployed for Christmas.
I have wasted so much time and energy on this - time I could have used to find other work.

Re: No work
I'm really sorry to hear about the outrageous way you've been treated.
What is making me really mad is the way they are keeping people dangling in limbo land.
If they had just told me that there was no job for me I wouldn't have minded so much. But I have spent the last 6 weeks thinking I was starting work on 1st Dec, which, even though it was only temporary, it would have been some money & something to put on my CV.
Like you, I have wasted so much time, energy & money on this phantom job, that would have been better spent applying for other work.

Re: No work
Exactly. If you are told you will be working you make plans accordingly. To be told that there is no work with just 72 hours notice, after waiting for 6 weeks is just unbelievable. Hiring the correct number of staff for the shifts available can't be that difficult!
