The 'Royal Mails Pay offer 2007' thread.

Post by 539 »

Dear Colleagues,

Negotiations on Royal Mail Letters Pay and the Future of the Company Royal Mail Make New Offer: A meeting was held today with Royal Mail and a revised offer was made of 2.5% on basic pay, overtime, SA, and all allowances. Royal Mail have also stated that they wish to retain within the offer the option of a £600 lump-sum as an alternative to the basic pay increase.

The 2.5% has now been offered to engineering and MDEC grades. Royal Mail are still refusing to make any offer for admin grades and have stated that they now wish to include all admin workers, across the whole of the group, in one set of pay negotiations. The Union has informed Royal Mail that making no offer for admin grades is completely unacceptable.

It is important that branches understand the offer remains conditional on the following elements:

* A savings and flexibility package along similar lines to that which has been previously published.

* An Efficiency Scheme as per the previous proposal.

* A commitment to further negotiations on Pay and The Future to be timetabled over the next 6 months.

Royal Mail has told the Union that this is their full and final offer.

The Union's Response: We have told Royal Mail that the Postal Executive will be meeting next week to consider their offer. Subsequently, the Union will be holding a joint Divisional / Postal Executive meeting in order to gain feedback before the Postal Executive make any further decisions. We are awaiting a full draft that will accompany the offer.

In anticipation of Royal Mail's intention to communicate the full proposal, we will send this out to branches as soon as possible.

National Industrial Action Ballot Timetable: We have received a number of enquiries stating that the Industrial Action Ballot timetable has been leaked in some offices. For the purpose of complete clarity the timetable agreed by the Executive Council is as follows:
Serve Notice on Tuesday 15th May
Despatch Ballot papers on Tuesday 22nd May

Result declared Thursday 7th June

PHANTOM SHARES: Following separate discussions with Royal Mail, the Union has also received a formal proposal on how the so-called "Phantom Shares Scheme" might operate. Royal Mail has stated that some elements of the Scheme are negotiable and that they would like to reach agreement with the CWU in the very near future. The Union has responded to Royal Mail's proposal and we are awaiting further discussions. Further developments will be reported in due course.

Yours sincerely, Kevin SlocombeHead of Communications

It looks to me as if they want people to have the option of either a 2.5% rise or a one off lump instead of the usual yes or no vote on a percentage rise.

A joke of an offer

Post by de-coded »

Inflation is at an all time high of 4.1% and they offer 2.5%, have a thought for MDEC staff who would get a whole £7 a week payrise. We are not inline to choose a £600 lump sum.

Bring on a ballot, they can run and jump if they think i will be in that day

Talks were held between Royal Mail and CWU yesterday around the 2007 pay negotiations and the future of Royal Mail.

At the meeting Royal Mail tabled an offer that they described as their “full and final offerâ€

LATER START TIMES

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

So one thing they are trying to do is sneak the later start times past us which the union has already says it wants to get a seperate national agreement on it. That will be a NO vote for the deal from me then. Image

Also unless they say exactly what "New summer schedules" is that also makes me say NO to the deal. I am guessing this is the 6 into 5 walks thing. Although if they are increasing the doors to doors to 4 which means effectively 80% delivery daily on every walk + 1/5 which is 20% of another walk - so its 100% delivery every day. Will georoute (which is set at 89%) then redo the walks so we can actually do that within the time.

Sorry cant see that working.ImageImage
