Its only letters that have to be deliverd that day.keithposty wrote:hantsman wrote:keithposty wrote:=rockypostie wrote:I have heard that a postie has been sacked because he cut off at 1:20,and his duty didn't finish till 2. But he hadn't had his break,so he didn't finish early he was just having his break at the end. I know ppl should have there break before they go out,but many have them at the end. Just wondering when ppl cut off at your places do they do it with having their break at the end? So finishing before their duty finish time?
i can confirm this is true as this person has just had there appeal by hr and the dismissal has been upheld
the charges were
1/ wilfull delay of the mail (brought packets back)
2/ theft of royal mail time (cutting off at 120 instead of 1400)
remember people
the finish time is this case was 1400, and in that time you had to take your break,
if you did not then you are at fault
you get paid for the breaks so take them
is finishing early to watch daytime tv realy worth it
Packets don't have to be deliverd every day
may i ask why not, if the packet comes in that day, it goes out that day or royal mail is guilty of willfull delay

Re: Breaks/ cutting off
i seem to be missing something on this
be it a packet or letter
if it comes into the office that morning then its live mail
may i ask where it states that packets can be delayed for my own sanity as this has a direct bearing on an ET1 CLAIM and if its royal mail policy
many thanks

To be honest alot of what you post Keith is not actually correct, sorry but thats the facts. RM dont get fined for packets I think its either 5 or 7 days they actually have to deliver them.keithposty wrote:i seem to be missing something on this

so how can nyou be charged with willfull delay then
they may not get fined for delaying packets /packets , granted if true but what rights has a dom got in delaying packets, not parcels, that come into the office that day
I NEED TO KNOW UNDER WHAT AGREEMENT /DIRECTIVE ROYAL MAIL CAN DELAY PACKETS/ITEMS
AS STATED
i am not talking of parcels but packet taken out in a pouch

Errrr 1st class is 1 day,2nd class is up to 3 days, letters or packets.
Managers knock them because it's easier.
Standard parcels are 3-5 days.
And if a screw says packets are not part of the USO and we can't get fined...

Postcomm has decided that the services that make up the universal service that Royal Mail must provide to customers are:
priority and non-priority mail services (letters and packets) up to 2 kilos (Royal Mail’s First and Second Class mail service and bulk mail services)
a non-priority parcels service up to 20 kilos (Royal Mail’s standard parcel service)

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Breaks/ cutting off
The thing is,and i've always thought about it,for instance PPI 2nd class(or undated 2nd class),oh look we can stream that/knock that because it's 2nd class and it can go tomorrow.
But the question is,as it's undated when was it posted? When 'should' it be delivered.
The answer as our esteemed MC colleagues tell us is,if it's in your DO,regardless of what it is-it is due for delivery,THAT DAY.

As per 'clear office policy'
Whatever is in DO has to go out that day.
DIM'S are under pressure by DSM'S to make sure of this!
Pckts whatever they are, have to go out that day!

You need to get this thing out of your head that it is ok for management to leave them willy nilly, not a dig Hants, but you're wrong, and it is wrong what goes on.
If it's a regular thing at your place then your rep needs to be on the case, this is peoples mail.

DSM in an ET hearing last year told the ET judge to his face that RM don't have to deliver them every day. I was there. I actually believe the DSM was telling the truth for once. So have to agree to dis-agree postman. DSM said they have 3 - 5 days presume thats working days, so thats bits the same.
But hand on my heart I still can't believe what goes on

It has absolutely nothing to do with how long a packet can sit in a D.O.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Breaks/ cutting off
TBH managers come and go at our office and they tend to bring in different rules, if they want you to work your break they will ask you only when it suits them, there should be a national agreement and set times where we should take our break, now did this guy tell the manager he was working through and will take it at the end? and did this guy tell the manager he was likely not to finish before he went out? you just can’t make your own rules to suit yourself every day. I go through my manager when I want a change, example a dentist appointment at 2 30 pm I will speak to my manager and ask them can work through and finish earlier because of the dentist most times they are ok. Some folk bring it on themselves through stupidity..
