Just waiting to start at York sorting office.Security clearance not passed yet, this will be my 3rd year at Royal Mail.
Just a little something that no one else has brought up.I attended the meeting with Angard on the 3rd Oct at 9am in York.At 1pm the same day, someone from Angard phoned me on a mobile, asking me for my SHOE SIZE.As several weeks had passed with nothing from Angard,I sent a text message to the mobile number. The reply that I got was a bit brief. The persons number that I used, was not very happy,as it was a private mobile number. They wanted to know how I had got their private number and not to use it again. After I had explained about the shoes,it was accepted.
They also explained that anyone with a provisional letter,to turn up 1 hour before the start time. But by reading other comments, people are being turned away with the provisional letter.Has anyone else had a phone call from Angard, asking for their shoe size.
Regards,John.

Re: BOOTS.
Hi John, I was in at 9:30am on the third (what a shambles that was) and I was asked by the 2 guys checking my documents what my shoe size was. Presumably 'just incase' we have to work outside?JOHN,YORK wrote:Just waiting to start at York sorting office.Security clearance not passed yet, this will be my 3rd year at Royal Mail.

Anyhoo I'm also waiting for security clearance, even tho other people have already started yesterday on the shifts we were offered as the first people in. Disgraceful.

Re: BOOTS.
I was in the interview room at 9.00 am,I was the first to have my name on the list of starters.I should have been starting tonight (29/11/11) at 21.30.Since Friday,Angard have upgraded my application from "Interview Booked" to "Security Clearance".
I phoned Leeman Road up this morning and spoke to one of Mr Richard Pearson colleagues,he is the staffing manager. He said that I was not on the list for tonight and Angard notify them the day before with a list of who is starting.Under no circumstances are you to turn up without being on the list,or you will be sent home.I was told that they have had further calls regarding Angard this morning.
For future reference,if you would like the staffing manager's number,it is 01904 617275.
Are you Emma from Selby.

Re: BOOTS.
Thanks John, yes it's me! Back once again although down for the late shift 2-10 this year. I also rang up yesterday, can't remember the manager I spoke to but he confirmed I wasn't on his lists for yesterday or Wednesday and told me pretty much what you were told. However he also took my name and number and said if he spotted me on any lists he'd call me himself as he wants people who've done it before/are willing to work hard etc.
From what I can see unlike other years they've just told everybody who turned up at any point during the week they had a provisional job offer, no waiting list etc and as a result have probably worked their way through from the top of the pile (ie: last people to be seen) and those of us who turned up first thing have been left till last. I saw lots of people from last year at the interviews for 9/9:30 slots so I imagine they were supposed to start with you tonight too.
I'm luckier than some in that I've recently(ish) finished a temporary contract and I start a new permanent job in January but the money would have been nice. I'm just crossing my fingers I get called in for next week.

Emma.
Just an update,at 11.36 received a text informing me to check my emails,as Angard have sent me an email regarding employment at Leeman Road.Checked email and it was a confirmation of start date.Thursday 1st Dec at 22.30.Also included was a contract.Just been on to Royal Mail site,my status is now,"Processing Offer."
Nice to see you back again,I hope that we do not have the snow like we had last year.Your late shift might suit you better,as you will be able to bus it to Selby and maybe get dad to pick you up.When I went for the interview,I saw David who you worked with last year.He got turned away as he did not have 2 photos with him,but Angard said bring one.So I do not know what happened to him.As far as I can make out from this forum,we do not get shift allowance for working nights, that is about £40/week down on last year.
I hope that you receive your confirmation soon.

Re: BOOTS.
Oh good news for you then glad you've got a start! I'm still on 'PROCESSING SECURITY CHECKS' So I'm not holding out too much hope at present but will be keeping my fingers crossed. I'd do any shift if I'm honest and just drive in every day!
David went and got another photo and came back so he was waiting when I arrived, hopefully he's been given a start date too. No I noticed it only appears to be 50p more an hour for nights this year, this whole Angard set-up seems to be a shoddy operation though.
I will keep my fingers crossed for them processing my application (might try phoning them again and again to kick them into action, emails don't seem to work!) and for no snow!

Re: BOOTS.
Ok,let me know how you get on.
From "Interview Booked"-----"Security Clearance"-----"Processing Offer", has taken 5 days.Mind you,it was showing "Interview Booked" for nearly 8 weeks.
By the way Angard has operated, the would make ideal candidates for running the country.
