Went to induction this morning (Tue 29 Nov) having received an email from Angard on 25 Nov requesting I do so. Meant to start full-time next Monday (5 Dec) at Jubilee Mail Centre. l, and many others, turned away at the Mail Centre gate because we 'were not on the list' Angard had provided the Centre with. I produced a copy of my emai - told to contact Angard.

nope, i had 2 emails confirming i had a place, turned up and got turned away. but wait for this...... people who didn't have email confirmation got jobs :s hows that work!!!!!!
this is getting stupid now. that's the exact opposite of what i was told. I'm thinking of emailing a couple of papers with links to this forum.
""Dear Liam

On behalf of Angard Staffing I am pleased to confirm your offer of the role of Christmas Casual - Sheffield Mail Centre. Please read this email and the attached documents carefully as they contain important information.

The first day of your assignment is Start Date is 22 Nov 2011, your shift time will be 06:00 - 14:00, There may be an opportunity to work overtime, this will be offered on site locally. ""

had 2 emails saying this, even took a printed of copy. However people got jobs who had only provisional letters, hows that work! what a shambles!

would love to see them in the paper!!

ruined my christmas! im just licky i still live with my parents and don't have kids, like some of the people turned away!

tbh i think someone should put them into the paper they derseve to be in it considering they are messing everyone up and i do feel so sorry for people who have told jobseekers they got a job to then find it they aint got the job ... most be horrible to go through that tbh

and people who are earning a little money for xmas for there kids presents is more worse to tell your kid sorry son i aint got anything for you because the job i got turned me down.. it isnt nice

I am now in my third week having had nothing from Angard since the interview in October other than a phone call telling me to start. Local management seem as fed up with angard as most of the staff and the casuals. Once you can get in the door and show that you can do the job you seem likely to be kept on so it might be worth turning up and claiming that Angard phoned you and told you to start.... it probably depends on how short staffed the Mail Centre you're reporting to is and how desperate you are to work. So much for the legislation that is meant to protect the workers....

I was turned away yesterday at Jubilee because my name wasnt on the list. Approx how many were you? We were like 20 of us yesterday and I dont know if they are going to sort this out.

It might be worth a try to call Jubilee and check if they have a new list

andrie55 - it was dark and wet, and there were lots of unhappy folk milling around. During the time I was there, there were probably 6 people turned away, but might have been more, as folk were arriving all the time.

I'm going to ring Jubilee Monday morning, and if I'm not on the list to start that afternoon, they can stick their job.

Do you have Jubilee number I want to call them and ask if I am on the list. If only I had a friend who works there and check my name
