Has anyone else had problems with Angard ??
I arrived today at the Royal Mail sorting office in Birmingham today to start my new job and just got messed about. First the majority of people who also turned up today found out that were not on the sign up lists. Out of say 40 to 50 people who arrived only 15 of those were able to sign in, and of those only 5 had their security passes. The rest of us were told to wait while a manager chased it up. He had been sent the employment lists nearly a week ago, with all the final candidates on it. Yet some people say they only got a full confirmation from the company this weekend. Some of us hadn't even got that, a few people I spoke to while waiting to find out what was happening said they had only got the provisional offer or past the security procedures, while one had a full email saying in black and white "YOU ARE HIRED" .
After finally getting a phone call back from Angard, the manager asked all who had not been able to sign in to go and wait outside. We were then all told that because we were not on the signing in sheets, we could not be hired, whether or not we had full confirmation of a job. They also said that they could not do anything, they could not take us in to work because we might not get paid for it, and that would look bad on them and be bad for us. Their only bit of advice, if you can call it advice, was to phone up Angard and chase it up, it was their fault not the Royal Mails. After being told this we were told not so politely to leave the premise. We told the manager that phoning Angard got us no where others had tried and the line had just rung out or had been given a busy tone.
So now many us are left in the lurch with no job and possibly no benefits, in this Chritmas period, because of what seems like a giant c*** up.

Re: Angard mess up Birmingham
Angard has f****d everything up. I worked for RM in Canterbury for the past 3 Xmas's and it was fine. We were kept informed and decently paid. This year Angard, an agency apparently owned by RM, has taken over the hiring of all temps. They are completely incompetent but I think it is deliberate. They are not contacting succesful applicants to save money. At the same time they can say you are employed and so they have met their targets. Worse still, they are employing a lot of people who are then not paid properly. More savings. This together with their scamming us out of the shift bonus means they are turning a tidy profit for doing f**k all. Make a complaint to the DTI and sign on. At least you will get JSA while you look for a REAL job.

Take it to your local press, they don't deserve to be causing this much upset to people who just want to do an honest days work in the middle of a recession at the busiest time of year.

Re: Angard mess up Birmingham
They really have managed to screw it all up, I've tried a few different numbers since I got home after a disastrous afternoon and I'm getting nothing one 0845 number just gave me an automated message saying sorry they are busy and I should get an email of confirmation and if I still have problem to contact their email address. And the "xmas team" number just gives me a busy tone!!! Its just common manners to tell us what the hell's going on, if I haven't got a job then fine at least tell me about it so I can keep trying to find something else, and not just leave me stuck in limbo.
And tbh i thought that by getting this job I would actually get some money I've been on JSA for the last few months and still haven't been paid by them either. Just feels like the whole bloody system of this country wants to screw me over.

To Emzay, another applicant was taking names and contact details from anyone turned away so she could take it to the press. Hopefully that will make them pick up their game.

I went to the 20th October registration event, and got told everything was fine and I would be contacted in 3wks. That was just a lie because up to today I've heard nothing.
Though I've just had a very helpful man on the phone, from Angard, who has double checked my application and sent it on to RM again, and said i should get a reply by email within a week, and that I should also phone them up again, on a number he gave me, on Friday to chase it.
