Latest Quality of Service stats
Monday 28 November
Our latest Quality of Service results for June to September show that we’ve beaten our First and Second Class targets.
We achieved a First Class performance of 93.2% against our 93% target. We hit 98.7% for Second Class, exceeding the 98.5% target.
Best performers
The highest First Class performance of 96.6% was in the Aberdeen (AB) postcode area.
There were First Class performances exceeding 96% in three other postcode areas: HX (Halifax, 96.4%), ML (Motherwell, 96.3%) and PH (Perth, 96.1%).
Forty three of the 121 postcode areas had a First Class performance at 94% or above, and 14 were at or above 95%.
Mark Higson, our managing director for Operations and Modernisation, says: 'These performance figures reflect the hard work and dedication of our employees as we press ahead with one of the biggest transformation programmes in UK industry. The maximum period of change is now underway.'
However, 14 areas were below the minimum 91.5% First Class performance. We are doing all we can to improve this poor performance in these areas.
Eight out of 12
Overall, we hit or exceeded eight of our 12 service targets.
We narrowly missed our targets for collection points and delivery routes completed each day. This was, in part, because of disruption in the wake of riots which affected a number of areas in August.
We also narrowly missed our 99% target for Special Delivery, with a performance of 98.8%.
Demanding task
We have a demanding task to hit our annual targets.
Cumulatively, some key services are below target at the half-way point in the financial year. It will be challenging to hit all targets over the full year given the scale of our modernisation programme

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
