1) all offers of work are provisional.
2) passing security does not get you a job.
3) you must have email confirmation, NO EMAIL- NO JOB.
4) don't turn up at you're appointed start time if you haven't got the email. you WILL be turned away.

took me 55 mins to get an answer this morning so if you're ringing them get yourself comfy with a cuppa.

Exactly the same situation for myself. The whole thing is disgraceful. So after turning down other work I now sit and wait for an email that may never come!

It's so soul destroying waiting for the email though. Even more annoying is knowing that people who attended the sign-up session with you are already working and earning. Got damn jobcentre this afternoon again. Told them I would probably be working by now.

Aaah so it really was engaged when I tried again just now! This is soul destroying. Somebody should go to the press about this. Middle of a recession what a great time to really mess up people who want to do an honest days works lives.

Thank you for posting this though. It's good to have some kind of definite answer even if I can't get through myself.

nope, i had 2 emails confirming i had a place, turned up and got turned away. but wait for this...... people who didn't have email confirmation got jobs :s hows that work!!!!!!

this is getting stupid now. that's the exact opposite of what i was told. I'm thinking of emailing a couple of papers with links to this forum.

Someone that did not pursue other temporary work applications having had no reason to believe they would not pass a CRB check, and then dumped by Angard could have cause to seek redress. CRB is the check we were told verbally was to take place.

2) this says If you pass you have the job.
Nowhere does it say If you pass our checks you still aren`t guaranteed any work, In fact I would say that point no 2 constitutes a legally binding contract. Angard have no legal right to offer more jobs than there are available and then pick and choose who they take on.
I`m ringing them back to point this out.

I was due to start today 28/11 on the afternoon shift, but i never recieved the confirmation email, i was thinking about just turning up and hoping for the best, but after reading all these threads about others in the same situation i dont think there's any point, i dont want to get there and then be turned away. I am, I have just rang the mail centre I was due to work at so i would google the number for the one you were due to start at. They have lists and they can check if you're on them or not. I am not, even though I should be. He took my number and said he would call me if I turned up on any future lists for starting in the next 2 weeks. And advised to keep pestering Angard. He said he'd had to turn away staff this morning who they were not expecting but had the offer letters.

So when they said to us all, ye this is the first registration event for this sorting office, you have the job pending security checks what did they really mean? They are covering their arses here, when they could finally be arsed to get round to confirming jobs they've done it from the back to the front.

Thanks EMZAY, Ive just phoned mail centre and the guy said roughly the same thing to me, not on his list.
Really annoying!! Anyway i cant wait around for this any longer, i'm gonna be looking for other work. Good luck to anyone in same boat , we may find a job before Xmas," Fingers crossed "

Went to induction on Fri 25th Nov. I got told to ignore everything that Angard say from now on. I am starting Tues 6.30-14.30. I have yet to have email confirmation too. Will see what happens...
