I don't know but hopefully the old one is still valid,
if not I kind of get the feeling RM have been buying
time with these talks for better contingency plans.

This is it now, we have to take a tough stance against
these corporate idiots. :lfo & :cfo

i agree with a previous post call us out on strike for the last 2 hours of delivery that way 90,000 cut offs everyday and we wont abide to the new later starts do this for a week then rolling action for 2 weeks then all out this way should stuff em up
dont believe anything they say they have had there period of calm the cwu has got to realise the softly softly approach hasnt worked and its time to step it up drastically

cwu too soft on them

Post by gspot01 »

Personally, I think the problem here is that the cwu has been too soft on them.

Talk, fair enough, but no cancellation or postponement of strike action until an agreement is reached.

Royal Mail used the promise of suspending action as a means to get themselves back into the boxing ring and off the ropes.

When you get someone at that point you do not allow them back up, you keep hitting till they stay down.

100% behind action, but this time if union want to have everyone feeling this strong then they must play hard ball and stop fannying around.

No need for a reballot see previous post at: http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/forum/vi ... llot#42207
Correct

Reading the above at

http://www.berr.gov.uk/files/file18013.pdf

Paragraph 52 says

Quote:

52. Where continuous industrial action is suspended, for example for further negotiations between the employer and union, the union must normally give the employer a further notice as in paragraphs 50 and 51 above before resuming the action. There is an exception to this requirement to give further notice, however, where the union agrees with the employer that the industrial action will cease to be authorised or endorsed with effect from a date specified in the agreement but may be authorised or endorsed again on or after another date specified in the agreement and the union:-

• ceases to authorise or endorse the action with effect from the specified date; and

• subsequently re-authorises or reendorses the action from a date on or after the originally specified date or such later date as may be agreed with
the employer. For this exception to apply, the resumed industrial action must be of the same kind as covered in the original notice. That will not be so if, for example, the later action is taken by different or additional descriptions of workers. In order to avoid misunderstanding, both parties may find it
helpful for such agreements to be in writing.

So we may not need a re-ballot Pray We just have to give them the usual 7 days notice.

I reckon we'll have to stick with rolling strikes or striking the last hour of our new late duties.
The one thing we need is solidarity, and an all out strike is a sure fire way to knacker that. Most people can afford to lose 1 days pay a week, but lose an entire weeks pay? You'll have more and more giving in because they simply have to in order to pay the bills and eat.
It's not being weak willed or a scab. It's feeding yourself and your family and I can't see anyone putting that as anything but their highest priority.

i agree but we have to face the fact that next week they plan to implement later starts in DOs. They plan to do it in Mail Centre night shifts from the middle of Oct.

This means we have NO time to waste in DOs with a little time to plan in Mail Centres

I say we should carry on the rolling strikes in MCs, RDCs, MDECs, Logistics, HWDC etc but do something a little different in DOs

Lets just say that at the moment your work 5am-1pm and RM by executive action change it to 6-2. The union could call every delivery postal worker to strike continuously for the last hour of their duty every day. This would (a) show that we do not recognise their new times, (b) only cost delivery staff 5 hours per week pay and (c) result in over 90,000 cut offs every day
I see the logic of your argument but I think it would be very very hard to administer. It is difficult enough to get people to support a day a week and I think an hour a day would be unworkable.

Some are in an hour and a half before their start time - what chance is there of being able to police the idiots when they are supposed to strike an hour early whilst on site? Particularly when they have probably finished an hour before their finishing time? That would suit RM - getting he work done for an hour less pay!!!

Well this week Billy & CO should be now biulding major bridges with the Fire Service unions, Prison Officers, Nurses, Teachers, Local Government Workers, Rail workers and the mass of other public sector workers who are just as p****d off with New Labour. We should be prepareing for an all out GENERAL STRIKE !!!! The workers of this country have given this New Labour twats the best part of 10years to get Public sevices in shape and all they have done is f*** it up! If they are not carefull discontent will let the Eaton toff and his blue blood hangem and flogem mob in again. We must make a start. A strange form of alliance is forming with right wingers getting involved in the defence of public sevices. Sounds strange but we might have to use them to crack Dumb and Dumber. So lets go for an all out strike no end till the talks start up again. Its the only way they will learn and the only way we will win. But But But the C.W.U. have to get the message accross to the soft and the unsure as it will be the likes of the strike breakers that have so far ignored strike calls that will loose this for us. HQ get out from behind your office desks stop going on about reconnecting with Labour and reconect with your membership otherwise you can kiss good bye to this union as we know it. Get out and about and explane the basics to the strike breakers. You have to get them on board. WE NEED YOU TO SHOW LEADERSHIP BILLY BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!

The TUC are calling for a winter of discontent so why don't the CWU step up and show the rest of them how its done. We have had a Summer and an Autumn of discontent lets lead and the others can follow.

Rolling strikes proved to be an effective weapon last time and they should be again, alougth RM have had time to revise tatics and ready some countermeasures. But when the DSA mail don`t get delivered/severly delayed perhaps the public will realize it`s [/b]us who`s doing all the b****y work!
The time has come for everyone who cares about the job to stay strong,we can win - togeher. RM have taken us for a ride and now after the `period of calm`are hoping we`re going to break and crumble no one can afford to strike but if we don`t we`re f*@*@d -simple as that!
So man the baracades!!

everyone is really angry ,that the union agreed to go back to work without having an agreement,i hear alot of people saying ,well i am not going on strike this time, lets all stick together ,if we dont we are beaten, lets take on these two rsholes, start the one day selective strikes again, but this time when we have them by the balls,we decide the conditions we return to.
