Roll back to way the job was done 15 years back, finishing at 12, and on saturdays finishing at 9.30am. So bring back the good old days

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We were happy, customers were happy, it was a doddle delivering the nation's post. The only miserable gets not happy, were the millionaire bosses. A plague on all their houses.

Re: What Changes do you want in new paytalk deal.
There is one thing wishing for changes which you know cannot happen and another wanting changes which could happen.
1. In terms of Saturday finishing times , yes of course everyone wants to finish early that is a given. Most do not want to work Saturdays at all. But unless Royal Mail are going to switch the machines off on Friday nights then it cannot happen. Now I doubbt very much that Royal Mail who borrowed the money off the govenment to purchase the CSS machines and ilsms and are now asking the government to write off the money are going to say we are not going to sequence the mail on Friday nights and Saturday morning. So if they contiue to squence the mail then the work will contiue to arrive in your delivery unit later as your second batch of work includes the distant mail which does not get collected until late the night before and has to be processed and then either flown down or up or driven some considerable hours before it gets to your inward mail centre.
2. To get paid for door to door or it to go back to what it was. People on here forget that the BTA agreement was not the first agreement where the members endorsed that door to door would go into workload and the unit payment would not be paid. In 2006 the shaping our future agreement was endorsed by the members in an indivdual member ballot 85% voted yes and I have the break down of every Branch and they voted for an agreement " Both Royal Mail and CWU see an opportunity to grow the business through door to door . This is a key area where our competiors are seizing the initiative and both parties recognise the need to act at pace. We commit to negotiate a new national agreement that will enable within the next 3 months growth in the door to door product and the removal of the weekly restrictiions. The national agreement will also include the options for presrving jobs , improving remuneration arrangements and how we take our business with us. "
In Royal Mail`s breif to staff they stated " That the cap on door to door comes off in 12 weeks and in that time we negotiate a new agreement. Door to Door is a really improtant product for us. The market for door to door is growing and is the fastest growing product in Royal Mail, income has gone up by 17 %in the last year. 80 of the 100 top advertisers use Door to Door and they want to see us increase the capacity. Removing the cap on door to door will mean we can expand into a growing market , make more money and help to make up for the decline in traditional mail streams like bank statements. Our competiors are using Door to Door to build their own delivery forces. TNT bought Ciruclar Distributiors rebranded TNT mail and have a delivery force in both Manchester and Glasgow. Royal Mail`s average price is twice that of the competitors "
In the end the CWU were not happy with what Royal Mail were offering and did not reach an agreement and then the 2007 dispute came about. But lets be under no illusions Door to Door was on Royal Mail`s agenda a long time prior to 2010 and was never going to stay the same.
Now want I would like to see is more pay including tieing up a deal for next year , a new mail centre clousrue agreement , a new delivery agreement which changes the negotiation away from the science to local knowledge and a change to the model week , a new job security agrement , confirmation that MTSF terms both VR and pay protection will continue past September next year , that the lump sums will be paid prior to March 2013.

Re: What Changes do you want in new paytalk deal.
I would like to see any future voting to be split DELIVERY and MAIL CENTRES, it's totally different work and one cannot vote on each others new working practices.
I would like to see the CWU have clear, black and white agreements in place with royal mail and not go down the lazy approach of "we'll leave it to local reps and management" and if these agreements are broken or abused then industrial action will take place on a national level!!!
I would like to see a stronger CWU, not one that gives in to royal mail and lets them get 90% of the changes they want like this current modernisation program which is a total shambles.
But we only dream, eh?
Saturdays will be gone as soon as we are privatised!

Re: What Changes do you want in new paytalk deal.
Just what was promised....
• Agreements to secure the Unions policy as set out in PEC Doc 52/11 (response to Royal Mail’s Business Plan and Colleagueshare announcements) published to branches at the National Briefing.
• Agreements to extend and strengthen job security commitments with the absolute need to avoid compulsory redundancies in light of the new Business Plan and Governments privatisation agenda.
• An agreed joint action plan to get all Business Transformation revisions back on track. Central to this and in line with the agreement is the need to finally ensure a fair and manageable workload for all employees. This means an end to the unacceptable managerial pressures being placed on our members on a daily basis. Instead offices must be run on the basis of agreed local and nationally co-ordinated resourcing and manpower planning.
• Confirmation that our shared vision of modernisation is still at the core of all company and Government plans.
• Confirmation that Royal Mail will remain the sole provider of the USO within the UK and that Royal Mail will continue to operate as an end to end service provider with no further break up or sale of the individual Businesses or functions within the group.
• Agreement that there will be no casualisation of the workforce and that the delivery model set out in the National Agreement will continue to be supported throughout the duration of the new Business Plan.
• Agreement that in addition to the Government taking on the historical pension deficit, CWU members pension entitlements will be fully protected including the use of RPI as the measure of uprating pensions.
• In order to create a culture of mutual interest we need to reach agreement on a new form of governance including consideration of the principles of industrial democracy. This means ending the continuing command and control managerial culture that has been a constant obstacle to progress.
In order to pursue this policy the Union will take whatever steps are necessary up to and including National Industrial Action for all CWU members within the Postal Group.
Prior to any Industrial Action ballot the Union will immediately embark on a major consultation and communications exercise with all CWU members.
All of them, not some of them...and not a watered down version either.
...and my colleagueshare money...now,not when i've jumped through another 10 hoops.

Most offices are struggling to deliver 6 D2Ds in a week so removing the cap limit is crazy and anyway no time has been allocated for prep of them, another bad RM idea
