Hello Mate, I'm in the same position as you, attended interview at the Abode but on 17th October, security checks passed but still no word. I am supposed to start next Monday, but have heard no confirmation yet, I am thinking of trying to ring the Canterbury Mail Centre and ask if my name is on their list - if they have a list.
I have done a month twice at Canterbury a few years back and knew about a month in advance. This new system does seem to have problems? Anyway good luck - lets hope we both get some good news!

Checks normally take 2-3 weeks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
