That will be the last you hear from ACAS until just before the Tribunal hearing and then they will try and work out a "deal" between you and RM.
Not quite, If he is dealing with the case himself, he will get a call from RM solicitors requesting information and documents to support the claim and he may get a call from ACAS offering mediation.
Have you had a date set for the hearing? The respondent (Royal Mail) will also get a copy of the Notice of a Claim.

Actually sometimes a full board of the tribunal can hear pre hearings( just that it's not common,usually if one of the parties ask for a pre hearing not long before the date of the full hearing to consider `substantive issues of facts) and also if the respondents solicitors are threating you with a cost order(as the twats at weightmans like to do!)then when you go to the pre hearing the judge will decide if your case merits a full hearing or he will advise you that he thinks your case is weak and if you still want to proceed then you will be required to pay a deposit or of course he could boot it out altogether.
Sometimes if the court has just set a hearing date you can even request a pre hearing to test the waters to see if yur case is strong and is a good tactic to employ if your not sure.on the merits of your case or if wankmans have started being heavy with you from the start.

i know i will have to produce this but i woul dhave thought its something for the judge????

Yeah standard ET3 letter nothing to be arsed about.
It's not upto them to calculate any compensation it's upto you to fill out a schedule of loss for things such as loss of earnings(what chancers these morons are!),injury to feelings etc,the only thing is they can ask what you've done to find work to mitigate your loss and provide proof but as this is at the start of your case and is usually done nearer to the actual hearing or a case management it is a weightmans `fishing trip`to find out how much your claim might be.

You only have to respond to what the ET ask's you to.
The Solicitors are weighing up your claim by the "mitigating your loss" letter to you, you don't need to reply to it but from advice I have seen its normally best to. Its standard practice, I would'nt get any hopes up re them making you an offer to settle though.

This works both ways, you can ask for information from Royal Mail's solicitor regarding information they hold which will help your case. It is advisable that they respond much the say way it is advisable for the Claimant to respond to the "mitigating your loss" letter, if you have found work then they will try and reduce the amount they would have to pay. I had this at a previous Tribunal where I got a job the next week so there were no "loss of earnings". But it was good to see the MD squirm when giving evidence
