Hi there, I've had an interview with angard staffing on the 2nd nov for the royal mail xmas casual and was given a provisional offer letter and was told that security cheks will take a week or 2 weeks then they will email me with the start date, but the status of my application still says 'interview booked'. Does that mean its unlikely that I'll get the job? Ne1 with the same problem?

I joined this forum to firstly find a contact number as my son got a provisional offer letter to start 6 a.m. this morning at Crick Distribution centre which is a 70 mile round trip for my son who has been unemployed now for two months. I filled up his petrol tank and off he set in the hope that there would be a job for him when he arrived as Angard had not contacted him and was frightened if he didn't turn up he might miss his chance of employment. On arrival two other guys turned up with the same provisional offer letter to be told the same thing we don't know anything about you starting today. They then sent all three them off to the Swan Valley branch only to find the same answer no job here for you my son was gutted as all he wants to do is work and earn his own money, it was so good to see him being so positive and Angard ripped that away from him. I have rung Angard all day today without getting an answer but if this is who Royal Mail are dealing with they can kiss goodbye to what was a good reputation. I won't give up ringing someone will pay for my sons anguish and wasted time and my money.

So has your son found out exactly when he starts?

I had an interview on 21st september and i got an email yesterday saying to come in on the 29th to start work. I also applied at the Birmingham centre and they told me that i was on a reserve list because of so many people .

My security check passed 2 days ago and got the email of my start date yesterday. Im chose the 1400-2200 shift and im getting the train from Erdington to Aston.

I asked them on the interview day if its first come first serve and they said NO. They will read your application form.

What are the chances of staying on and getting a part time/full time contract ???

You're starting work on the 29th at Aston mail centre in Bham?
I've been told that I start on the 28th..also I think the chances of staying full time is 0% lol.

Yeah 29th for me at the big Birmingham mail centre. I hope they keep me on cuz at the moment i work part time at NEXT at the Fort and im only allowed to do 16 hours maximum a week because of this new contract.

I have to leave NEXT to work at royal mail but if they cant keep me on il risk not a having some work.

21st of september or October? 2 months is a long time for security checks which is why I ask. I had my registration event on the 18th October and wasn't told anything about being on a reserve list.
I was given a 28th November provisional starting date but haven't heard back since.

Ah, may be because of the shift you chose. I went for the 10pm-6am shift. Are you taking steel cap shoes by any chance? I was told they would be provided but others are saying they send you home if you don't have any.

That's kind of a bummer. It seems if you are looking for reliability then Angard is probably the worst company to be with.

I havent got steel toe capped shoes but in the email i got it says

"Dress code is casual dress and if you have safety shoes, please bring those with you. "

Says nothing about what would happen if u didnt have any so im not worried

So they are giving jobs to people that attended the second registration event and were placed on a 'reserve list'. I chose to go to the event at 9am on the 18th thinking that I would be on top of the pile, seems it has ended up that we are the mugs at the bottom of the pile. Even chose the 10pm to 6am shift.

Complete shambles.

I went on the 21st which was a friday and as soon as i sat down the guy said i would be put on the reserve list because of how many people applied the day before.

I kept questioning them about it and found out that tonnes of people fail the security checks or just dont turn up and they actually read our application forms to see who gets hired.

Now many status says "Status: HIRED AND START DATE AGREED"

Passed my security checks a while ago now and been waiting ever since. Can't see how the application forms differentiate applicants to be honest, this is a job that if you are able bodied you can do (with all due respect).

110,000 applicants for 15,000 jobs and they're checking through them? No wonder everything takes so long and they have no time to answer the phone.

I'm in the same boat. One of the first in and out of the first day of interviews but my security checks only started yesterday. Others who went to the second interview date have, by all accounts, had their checks passed for a week or two now.

Who knows how they pick people. It was literally 24 hours after my security checks passed that they hired me. Maybe you could call and ask for a 2-10 shift .

Yeah I applied for the Birmingham one too mate, 18th October event.

Judging by this site phoning isn't worth the bother, no ones getting through and when they do they are just told they will get an email soon or phone back later. But I have nothing to lose.

Not having the best of times with incompetent recruitment teams in recent weeks.

ive been out of full time employment for months now and it sucks. But ive still got a hard decision to make because i could lose some stability if i leave my current part time job at NEXT and find out i wont be kept on.

Im just gonna have to work like a beast and see if the manager gives me a chance.
