It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

MDEC Manual Data Entry Centre.
One of several centres of severe embarrassment to Royal Mail, employing teenagers and women to manually input address data that the very expensive mail sorting machine can't read. For the risk of running carpel tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injury a small annual pittance is renumerated to these fortunates; with added benefits of no recognition, no reward and promotion only by bed hopping with unattractive male managers. If you would like the word DOORMAT tattooed on your head, then working at the MDEC would be an ideal employment opportunity for you.
This town is a s**t hole, the only job I can find is at the MDEC.

I'm supposed to be starting next week at Stoke. They rang me last week about it and will confirm again closer to the start.

What a lovely description there from the urbandictionary, really makes me look forward to it

I'm starting next week at Stockport Mdec, I start on the 1st for training, but I worked there last year and have worked some odd one of shifts during the year too, so I think I will have less training than others which they seemed to imply over the phone when I asked but who knows! last year I had a week's worth of training which was about 3-4 hours a day :)

I'm working the 7am - 2pm shift, early mornings for me! oh and I was told i'd get a text about 3 days before I start as a reminder.

Training probably.
No point in starting you all at once if there aren't enough people to give you the cup of tea and H&S video.

I think it depends on the chosen shift and training and things like that :)
