Kenilworth Post problems need resolving

DESPITE a public meeting almost a year ago and reassurances that things would get better, there are still ‘recurring problems’ with the postal service in Kenilworth.

As a result of this, the town’s MP Jeremy Wright plans to meet Royal Mail bosses again to discuss what is going wrong.

He said: “The problems include late delivery and things not reaching people.

“I will therefore be contacting the Royal Mail to get an update on why things haven’t improved since earlier this year.”

Rumours have also been circulating recently in the town about possible changes and even the closure of the Kenilworth sorting office in Warwick Road.

In response to this Val Bodden, a company spokesman, said: “Faced with full competition and declining mail volumes, Royal Mail operates in an environment of continuous improvement as we constantly review the efficiency of all our units.

“However, we have no firm plans to close Kenilworth delivery office at this stage.”

She added: “We can confirm that all mail in Kenilworth is being delivered to all addresses on a daily basis.

“We urge any customer with a particular enquiry or complaint about their postal service to contact our customer services team so the matter can be properly logged and fully investigated on their behalf.”

In January, earlier this year, a public meeting about postal deliveries in Kenilworth was held at St Francis of Assisi church hall after Mr Wright persuaded Royal Mail managers David Wright and Richard Hall to talk to the people of the town directly.

This came after the Royal Mail postal service was labelled a “disgrace” by hundreds of people living in Kenilworth who did not receive their post in time for Christmas.

Mr Hall and Mr Wright told the meeting of more than 30 people that in September last year, there were changes from hand sorting the mail to using an automated system. They admitted Royal Mail had got it wrong but was working hard to address the issues.

They also said a series of measures were being taken to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

Kenilworth’s MP added: “The company has had long enough to sort out its issues, but there are still problems, so I will be asking why and what can be done about this.

“We need there to be improvements.”

And Kenilworth
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
