In fairness to them, if they sacked a manager every time they made a mistake, you'd have ten different ones ... every five minutes. My day today is a fine example of mistakes being made at every corner, and not one of them by me. Personally, I take a fastidious approach to the job to ensure my own arse is covered at every corner, and let them play their own game.

A few days ago while out on delivery I met a strange woman who was concerned that the berries in the garden of the house I was delivering to were poisonous and as there is a primary school nearby, she wanted to leave a note for the owners to inform them of the fact. Did I have a pen and paper?
So I gave her my spare pen and a 739 card and left her to it.
Today the house owners turned up wanting an explanation for the bizarre card that RM had put through their door regarding the berries in their garden.

I won't do that again.

Colleague came up to me today and asked "You off next week then, as I'm doing your duty"

"Er, Am I?"

Had put in request six weeks ago for a week off 'anytime between now and Christmas' . Hadn't heard anything despite a bit of chasing. Confirmed with the manager that I am, actually, on leave next week. What a way to find out. God bless my colleague for his casual enquiry

Out on the walk, and there's a burglar alarm sounding off in the distance. Eventually get to the house with the alarm ringing, door's ajar, so i shout to ask if theyre all right. No answer so i phoned the police and had to wait until they arrived. In the meantime neighbours were appearing saying 'i was going to phone the police, its been ringing all morning' yeah but you waitied for Muggins to do it and now i have to loiter for 20 minutes when i could be delivering. Alarm stops ringing by the time a copper turns up and sends me on my way, so no closure to the story sadly.

More people spend time on their computer buying ebay and clothes crap due to winter. Hated this packets hammering.

Only my second day back since returning from Tenerife. (off yesterday) Played catch up with the packets that were left in yesterday, really bad apparently. Bad today too and doesn't look like getting easier. Think the management are beginning to realise that things ain't what they should be.

Packets (3 bags plus bulks), letters (4 trays - 2 sequenced, 2 not) and a crap pile of flats (all the DSA catalogues/magazines) so it's just as well as I cut off...........along with about half the office
