i take it you did a buy down from 40 hours to 20

may i ask how much as i was offered the same
Hi
No. I transfered to a different office. So had to accept a 20hr contract as part of the deal.

Thats unfortunate because it will cost you many thousands under the IHR agreement .
Yeah! Bad timing really.. I found out I needed surgery about 5 months after I transfered.

Hey folks , first time on here I'm facing very similar situation to the OP.
Facing IHR, I've 8 years service,5 full time,3 part time. However I had a break in employment due to moving between Scotland and N.Ireland this was under two years and when I rejoined RM my previous service was taken into account. A continuance of service meaning although I've only been in current office 3 years my service takes in the previous 5 years.

Basically does anyone know what this means for my lump sum amount, any help or advise would be great.

doesn't really matter on your length of service. It's your contracted hours.

Offer will read something like this

Number of weeks in lieu of Notice (PILON) 9Weeks
Pay in lieu of Notice Payment 9 x weekly wage
Number of weeks/days in lieu of leave ? x Weekly/daily rate (mine was daily as i only had 5 days remaining)
Lump Sum payment 34 x weekly rate
Overpayment mine was 0 but keep an eye on it
Last day of service
Payment date

So I will only get part time rate if that's so what sort of figure am I looking at.

25 hours , although for 5 years I was doing 40 hours. There is a long term doubt over my ability to work due to arthritis. Does this mean I'm elligiable for Ill health retirement with immediate pension?

pjsludge - work on £450 per contracted hour and you'll be just under the settlement you'll get. So a 20 hour contract gets you just above £9,000 and so on. Most of what you get is tax free so although you may be quoted 46 weeks it'll actually work out nearer to 50 or so weeks of what you normally earn (net). Hope that makes sense.

Thanks , still trying to get my head round this, where does the £450 figure come from though.

on a 24hr contract I was just shy of £10k

Take your basic pay, multiply by 34
+ 9 weeks pay
+any holiday pay.

Gives you a figure of what u might be expecting.

Where do you have the arthritis? It all depends on what ATOS(sers) say. They reckoned I could do an office job, haha funny as my knees sieze if I've been sitting too long, further damage caused by a fall, due to knees give up the ghost getting out the bath, now have compressed nerves in spine. Which results in dead arm feeling, feels like a bag of spuds tied to my wrist and elbow. Along with constant pins n needles in hand. But alas ATOS think I'm suitable for a desk job, therefore it was IHR lumpsum. Think you have to be practically dead or dying to get it with pension tbh.

I know a couple of people who have had IHR recently sludge and the figure of £450 per hour is pretty accurate. Of course some people pay more tax then others depending upon their wage. And remaining holiday entitlement for the year alters things aswell. But trust me, if you take this as a benchmark and add / subtract a couple of percent you'll be very near what they'll give you.

As I said before, it all comes down to ATOS. They think I can work again, I seriously doubt it as my condition has worsened during the past 6 months. The knees are easing due to not walking on them so much, but the arthritis is cropping up in other places, which means a desk job is gonna be kinda hard.
