johno47 wrote:Why o why does this not surprise me, the only times ive heard them talk is either in a foriegn language or broken english, it really is a disgrace, the standard of management from the main boss and Lighthouse is absolutely dreadfull, they need to be told that management is not just about how many degrees youve got or how clever you are, its about common sense answers to problems and man management, in other words how you behave and communicate to people, they just dont understand that this job has always been about give and take, and if you treat people with respect and look after staff that them same staff are more likely to help you out when your stuck or need a favour, a good working atmospere and happy workforce has been proven to be more productive, the main boss seems to think that the best way to get the best out of staff is to use the big stick and create an atmospere of fear and oppression, where everybodys frightened of making a mistake, and Lighthouse ive never met anybody who seems to know less how to talk and behave with people its like RM have cloned him and downloaded every rule and regulation into him, there is no give and take with him its just the RM line every time, the worst part about all this is its not just our office, its happening up and down the country in other offices, its a sad indictment to a once great company that these people get their attitudes from people at the top...UNITY IS STRENGTH.
I totally agree with what you`ve said and like other offices we`ve got a few p****s with big sticks!
The following is a CWU handout we got last night:-

"....... On the day the strike was called of last Thursday, the night shift came into work to find managers performing postal workers work. They felt so strongly about the situation that some work areas refused to work with them. The two night reps tried to resolve the issue but to no avail, at about 22:45 the area processing rep also arrived to try and resolve the matter again to no avail. At this stage it was agreed with the night shift manager to hold a meeting in the canteen and a call out was made for all CWU members to go to the canteen.
....... At first the meeting was addressed by the night rep and then the area rep took over explaining why he didn`t think taking unofficial action was the best option. At the end of the meeting the staff agreed to return to work, which they did.
At tis stage after a brief meeting with the night manager the area rep left the building and the two night reps stayed to sort out any problems that might arise.
There was no contact between the area rep and senior management over the issue the next day other than a one line letter inviting him to a meeting on the following Tuesday.
There was no further contact untill that meeting. At that meeting the area processing rep and ****** were given a three page document highlighting the penalties that are now going to be imposed because of in Royal Mails words `the unofficial industrial action`. We have put the full set of sanctions up on the CWU notice board and it will also be shown in the branch magazine as there are far to many to highlight in one document.
Despite the area rep stopping industrial action he has been informed that his release time has been taken away for a period of one month and other reps release will be looked at. Furthermore all unofficial breaks have been taken away on duties and SA for all night shift employees. Also SA allocation will now be peformed by the book room, these are just some of the sanctions.......
When asked why the area reps release time had been taken away despite him persuading the membership to go back to work, the answer that came back was twofold, firstly Royal Mail believe that the area rep had a responsibility to stop any unofficial action and despite him stopping the action they deem that as unacceptable  and secondly the CWU were told that Royal Mail can`t have people listening to the union and not them. The question has also been raised as to why at this time is the only person that has lost any type of release is the area rep, unfortunately the CWU has not had an answer to this quetion.
On Tuesday evening both divisional reps came to try and resolve the issue, after a 3 hour meeting with Royal Mail the divisional officers believed they had reached a way forward after Royal Mail had stated that if the CWU agreed to try and assist clearing the backlog of mail in the office-because they believed the CWU had organised a go slow-they would look at the situation again.
Despite the CWU holding daily shift meetings with shift managers on the early and late shift (the night rep asked for a meeting but it never took place!) and the office obviously making inroads to clearing the backlog, this despite not having enough equipment and the late shift being short of over 50 duties on Thursday evening, Royal Mail informed our divisional officers today that they would not be changing their position.
We are asking at the moment that we have no adverse reaction to what Royal mail are doing and whatever happens in your work area you continue to work normally. We are currently seeking advice as to what we should do next but rest be assured we will not let the matter rest. As we believe people are being unfairly punished for things they had no power to stop."

Thats it, sorry it`s` a bit long but i thought it would be better reading near enough verbatim.
So - it seems the backstabbing B******s are multiplying, Who said clones?
I nearly forgot to say that to really rub it in of those who attended the canteen meeting a number had that time docked as `unofficial action` :mad .

According to our local anti-union news rag (The Sentinel) Burslem DO is now officially the 2nd worst office in the country, which it squarely blames on the postmen and women and the union but what I want to know is how did some place in Hull nick our moment of glory to become No1   and who are they as I haven't heard to much about troubles in that area? :nana :nana :nana :nana :cfo :lfo

If I was at Burslem I would be. What is it that they are doing:

1. Showing RM that constant cutbacks are not working.
2. That we are overworked.
3. That we are underpaid.
4. Worst of all they are only working to Royal Mails rules instead of working themselves into an early grave.

The comment that we are overpaid and under worked is coming back to haunt them more than Gerald Ratners comment about selling crap. Perhaps they will stop calling it a Ratner and start calling it a Dozier or a Lie-ghton. I have always wondered why they said it were they intentionally trying to provoke a reaction.

HOW THE FECK WOULD YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BEING PROUD????

When you live off of a system that leaches off of the workers and the bonus is all about how much cuts and pressure you can put on POSTIES to leave the job.... Ive never met a DOM or Screw that would or will stand up for a moral issue or be proud to stand and admit that the workers have a point as all have sometimes!!! :mad You make sarki comments and think your mear name on here will make an impression... Well it does but one of a foolish idiot just trying to get a rise out of us the 77% who voted for IA and a way of working the BURSLEM are doing... No less no more... By RM rules.... Or dont you think RM rules apply when YOU SAY SO???? Same as WILLFULL DELAY.... Never happends when a screw holds back 1st class mail just to get out that last bit of MS3... Seen it sunshine been there.... I know many others have seen it too!!! If a postie leaves a single letter in there frame you get a screw jumping up n down over the postie who is under more stress than your belt buckle you lazy coffee drinking parasite!!!

feck off!!! I wish we all come out and let you and your strike breakers show the country wot a shambles you really are.. Big Al n lil adam at the helm of HRH Royal Mail... Ohh which by the way is OURS TO..........

DOM perhaps you could answer this? We have possibly the worst IR climate in the country at the moment, we have numerous complaints about mail going missing and being dumped due to agency workers who can't even read english (which is not their fault I should add) and managers that understandibly don't really want to finish off our cut-offs, We have large numbers of complaints about bullying by managers, the local rag is saying that we are the 2nd worst office in the country BUT AMAZINGLY our manager has won an award for the most improved office in the region. Interested to hear your reply.

I'll answer it for you just in case you can't! He has underspent £90,000 on the office budget so far but even that is a lie as he does not have to put all the cost's of the extra managers on to that budget which is massively over £90,000 so RM haven't even had the brains to realise that not only is quality down but also cost's are way higher than ever it's just that someone else is paying the bill now the THICK T##T's      :lfo
