i know mate, but when they stopped us from taking tea or coffee onto the primary, we obviously objected,,,,then they said it was a health and safety issue. i.e. hot tea or coffee could scald someone if it was spilt. i was,nt being arsey about it, sorry if i gave that impression.
Sorry lol didn't think you was being arsey, sorry if i sounded arsey Buy you a cuppa if we ever meet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Lets hope you don't meet on an IPS frame....

Bit of an update on how thing's have gone over the last week. On Wednesday we were on the sorting from 6.00 til 9.00. The DOM had gone to a meeting and by 8.15 i'd had enough so I made myself a drink. Of course others saw this and decided they would make one for there selves. We have 2 line managers that are on our side and turned a blind eye. However we have one who is a complete cow but instead of having a go at us she pathetically called the DOM at his meeting to let him know what was going on. The line managers who turned a blind eye got the bollocking and he has kept a watchful eye on us since. We have a union meeting tomorrow with the branch chairman and a union executive from London and i'm sure this subject will come up.
This is one of the issues that will be 'addressed' if you go through the Indoor Flow thingumybob. WCM encourages professionalisation of the IPS and other 'tasks' and also encourages attacking waste. Tea drinking is seen as a wasteful activity. The example is given of Tesco till operators. When was the last time you saw them sipping a muggo?????

When was the last time you saw them grab 100kg of shopping and go for a 4 hour walk with it?
Working in a D.O. is not a customer facing operation like Tesco,it is an office environment and one of the only "perks" of that is being able to drink tea or coffee.
It is only wasteful if you believe that people can be treated like machines.
Not saying I agree with it just saying what the 'reasoning' is behind it. What do our MC colleagues do? I assume they use one of their many official and unofficial breaks to get in the tea drinking. Don't recall seeing much tea and coffee drinking going on when people are working. If people weren't allowed to 'drink and sort' maybe it would force them to actually take their break befoer going on delivery?

Well jessica at GMC you are not allowed (officially) drinks, especially hot drinks on shopfloor
most managers turn a blind eye to small bottles of cold drinks as long as they are not left on
frames or machines. They obviously recognise that the drinking fountains are of such poor quality
because you wont see any of them drinking from them but then again managers only seem to
drink coffee in RM....Brazil must be indebted to them

No canteen, no drinking fountain, all we've got is a cold tap and a kettle.

While I know there are a few lazy so and so's on the sorting I don't believe it's fair to stop us all having a tea or coffee when most of us only have 2 in the whole working day, especially when you see workers who don't sort strolling around with drinks and smokers walking out for a fag whilst we're still on the sorting. Has our DOM got the right to stop us getting a drink whilst we're sorting? Are there any links which explain what our rights are regarding this subject? Cheers in advance.
same at our place.told my dom if royal amil can't spare two minutes of its time for me to brew up,i can't spare any of my time to do extended.

Well said that Man, If only there were more people like you in RM, we wouldn't always be on the back foot fighting the management. Just wish that a few more in my office would stand up for themselfs.
