I don't consider runners / job killers people who put sneeking off home early or making enough time to do ghost O/T my colleagues, and your right the runners should not trust me I will expose the mistakes they make when doing the job to a poor standard for their own ends..... As for anyone else in our office they trust me implicitly because i will defend injustice and am not afraid to support or defend my colleagues.
You make comments like "you don't know the full story" yet are quite willing to pass judgement on someone you don't know :no no :no no :no no. I never was judge, jury and executioner I mearly said report him if he's a runner and I stand by that, an investigation after several warnings would be the proper course and that's how it should be. These runners make people in every office look sub standard every day and do not care about any consequences for their so called colleagues or the customer, they are the ones who have helped destroy the job and lower the reputation of all posties and RM in the customers eye. They should be exposed so we get back to serving the public properly, caring about their property and mail security.....

Get these clowns too feck...if i had it my way,i would line them all up against the wall ,and proceed with a hard swift kick too there swingers,so they never run again.....hope that has got the message across :angel

I see some of you assume all runners make mistakes when this isn't the case. Always find it amusing when people put the boot into others who try to complete a poorly paid job in the shortest time possible. Shame on them...

Funnily enough it's mostly the overweight/slow long timers who seem to complain. Another thing to note is that said complainers couldn't 'run' if they wanted to and seem to take exception towards anyone who doesn't conform to their imagined standards. For every runner there are at least 3 others who like to do as little work as possible for as much overtime as possible, yet it's a severe injustice to get home a little early? This job has been desirable for years due to the job and knock element. It's only now that a day’s work is a lot harder they tend to pick out the people doing what they themselves did for years on end and simply because they can no longer do it themselves!

It's the people who use cars, reap overtime like no tomorrow, work their rest days etc...These are the people killing the job and making the phrase 'new entry' a thing of the past. Before you start on the 'fast man' it might be worth taking a look at the real issues within an office, namely me me me me me.

Back on topic i think you should mention to your workmate and not management.

 So some feel never trust a 'grass'-- if those people with that attitude were being blamed for something they did not do, and only a workmate telling who the real culprits were saved there bacon, would that be different? There is grassing and grassing, --nobody likes a tell tale, but once a problem becomes known it is not so easy to ignore it.

I should like to politely respond to your post.....

The assumption i make regarding runners and mistakes is taken from experience as I work in Delivery, all the runners in our office are allways being complained about the mistakes they make, evidence is abundent i.e returned letters with miss delivered on it, constant complaints from customers re. shody workmanship etc etc, but of course this is not addressed by management else they might stop running and then they would not be able to bully someone who chooses to do the job in accordance with RM's own rules...... Now that wouldn't do would it

Once again you seem to rudely class anyone who doesn't run as slow, overweight long timers.... What rubish, you seem to have a lot of respect for the three quarters of posties (I think you implied) in your office who simply have more oil in their can than some one who runs, as it offers no legitimate benefits nowadays.

Couldn't run if they wanted to..... Another silly assumption.I never run on the post but have been and still am a very active sportsman (still competing at a very high level). My best mate runs marathons but he neither runs on the post.... cause there just isn't any point.....

Is it such a severe injustice to sneak off home early...... Don't suppose so however it is a sackable offence. And it does happen even to toadies. At a local office two posties were sacked on the spot when caught at home early by the IB no ifs no buts gone, simple. As they were toadies even the managers efforts failed to convince the IB they remained sacked..... So no it's not an injustice but very foolhardy....

I do agree with you re. people doing the job in their cars killing the job, but not people who do O/T (I don't do it myself anymore) the majority in our office are on the whole P/T staff trying to make a manageable wage which I have no objection to at all with there being no prospect of F/T work for them......

Well it's sort of turned out ok. I was wrong about the posties identity. It is actually, one of our deaf colleagues, which ruled out having a quiet word in his ear. He is a notorious practioner of doorstepping and other dark arts.

Went back to the customer and pressed her to complain officially. As he's deaf, he's more or less complaint-proof as far as management are concerned. They'll probably just move him on to another round (or do nothing), so hopefully everyone will be happy in the end

To be fair L8 everybody won't be happy if the problem just gets shifted around or ignored.
Managers should do their job properly just like the postie, deaf or not.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Completely agree Postman. Everyone will be happy, except the customers, until this postie learns how to do his job properly. The managers here are fairly decent, but are treat the deaf workers with kid gloves. More or less unsackable. Am sure if it was hearing-abled person doing the job this badly, they'd have been out on their ear ages ago.

Our deaf colleagues are all really nice lads, and I understand the job could be bit a more difficult for them in some respects, but a couple of them really take the mick.

Complaint levels are being cracked down on at our place, so maybe another official one is the best way to go for the management to actually do something?
