I hope the deal is a good one, but the word 'shafted' keeps coming into my mind. If we are, then the CWU is finished, and only to be partially saved by a potential substantive 'NO' vote to such an agreement. Duty times are up for change at our Fail Centre - retarding yet another half an hour - TBR is also going. If I wanted to work nights, I would have signed for a night duty. When I first transferred here, my duty was 13.45 to 21.45. It is now expected, in eventuality, after imminent tinkering to become 16.00 to 00.00. But, of course, the business believes we come home, and stand in cupboards until the next day. Family is not a word in their dictionary.

What the hell going on in Bristol? 1600 hrs till 0000 ! How can you lot stand for that ? Oxford Mail Centre.. late duties will be just 30 minutes later. 1400 hrs till 2200 hrs. Management wanted it later ( like you ) but our Bob Cullen told management what to do with this kind of later start !!

I quite agree.

Well, our local rep just lays down and says tickle my belly. It will come in eventually. I work 1418 to 2200 plus 18 mins Time Bonus Relief - which is going. Our duties, too will start 30 minutes later. But our 4 nighters 2000 to 0600 are going to 2230 to 0830 very soon, the first wave of change. The belief is, that this will have a knock on effect on the start times of all shifts. Currently, mornings are 0600 to 1400.

Lets all remember WE are the union, if it is a sell out deal if there is one ( no offence postman, i'm with you anyway i've been told there is one) if the the pec recommend a yes vote,we all have our own values, princibles and minds we can still vote no if we feel we have been shafted.

The thing we all need to campaign for in terms of the vote on a deal is a high turnout!

The way forward came in with just over a third of the membership voting yes and the rest of the membership voting no or not voting at all.

With regards to the Way Forward ballot, of course it was a close result.

BUT, a sizeable number of posties at our Mail Centre, although CWU members, NEVER received their ballot papers, including me, and, hence NEVER got the chance to vote against it. :no no
