Alright Mate
Hello and welcome ronnie
Shame about Sunday collections
Ive seen little notes on the postboxes where i work saying as from 28 october no more sunday or bank holiday collections
Seems they are not costworthy anymore and have to go,its all about money now not about a service to the public

I run a small business. We spend around 20k a year on Royal Mail services and about 60% of our post goes on a Sunday. If Postcomm's latest news release is to be believed I am one of 50 businesses to have a firms collection on a Sunday in the country (which I find hard to believe). However if it is true I am supposed to be getting a personal approach from Royal Mail to outline the alternatives.
My business boomed under the Sunday post. It was abandoned once before in the 1970s - I fear this time it won't be back. Strange when everything else seems to be moving to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Greetings 'Terryk' - You raise excellent points! I could write a 'book' on here - in answer - but long posts online - tend to get ignored! I joined the R.M. a little over 8 yrs ago. The 'Way
Forward' - leading to a 'Single Day Delivery' - had already been agreed by our members - on advice from the CWU N.E.C. - of the day! Although the members were grossly misled - we have to live with picking up the pieces! If you get a chance - to read this amazing 'Crock of S*it - known as 'The Way
Forward' - you will discover that the fragmenting & running down - of the finest postal system in the world - was planned years ago. The present attitude of R.M. m*n*g*rs confirms that it was the first step - toward 'Privatization'!
On the 'Delivery' side - we are told not to consider the people who we deliver mail to - as our customers! They are unimportant & not to be listened to! They did not buy the 'stamp'! Even if that twisted logic was believed - I cannot comprehend - how customers like you - are being alienated & abandoned!
When I became a postie - my political leanings - veered a tad to the right of Atilla the Hun & Alexander the Great. Within a matter of days - I became a Socialist & Syndicalist. I also - very quickly - discovered that - up to the highest level - R.M. m*n*g*rs are recruited from the 'feeble-minded' & 'easily-led'! They are over-promoted & 'over-paid'. None of them have the bottle to veer from R.M. policy - as few others - would employ them!
All you disenchanted customers - must complain - complain - & complain again. I can understand - up to a point - the twisted reasoning behind c*apping upon a workforce - IF it benefits the customer! BUT - c*apping upon the CUSTOMERS - it makes not one iota of sense WHATSOEVER!

We collect and process sports results and then send newsletters etc to clubs and the media - which up to now have arrived with most of them across the South and South West on a Monday morning. Most people still seem to like a hard copy rather than an email version. We have won several contracts because we have been prepared to work through the night on a Saturday to get them out. Others were happy to do it but during working hours on a Monday - now they can!ROCKY wrote:hi terryk and welcome never believe anything rm say, however out of interest why is sunday such a high volume turnover

Royal Mail Managers apparently believe that only the biggest ten posters are important as customers.
Smaller posters, the general public, and the workforce are not given any consideration as we are not
profitable enough.
The only thing that seems to matter to them is increased profits, not public service, which is what Royal
Mail used to be about.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Just been to the supermarket, had a look on the postbox outside and saw a tiny sticker saying Sunday/BH collections to cease next month, I doubt the public will even notice it.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
