It didn't help that the managers were beneath contempt or that I'm not overly fond of the leadership of the CWU. It had its moments though.

The screws aren't that keen in our office! If they kept the gates locked until 09.45, hardly anyone would do overtime and they would end up doing it themselves. They don't like having to work!

We're so short staffed that managers doing deliveries and part deliveries is more or less a normal daily occurrence. Some of the blokes would nip out and do a bag before the "start" time, if they had a delivery close to the depot, and then come back for the missorts - but naturally enough it came down to the green eyed monster and so they have had to be seen to clamp down.

One of the things the last HYS survey threw up was new staff not being happy about managers 'leaning' on them to perform overtime. It's a deffo B&H matter and the woman who came down to interview us in the aftermath knew all about it. It hasn't stopped them pressurising new staff, who are frightened to refuse. I can't wait for the next results because I don't think they will show any improvement. The same managers are still there, and they've still got the same attitude.

Where is your assembly point in case of a fire? If it is outside the gates I think that manager could be in serious trouble. Check it out.
