Yep, complete madness - coming in 1h+ early, no trolleys, rushing around, coming back to the office 1-2h early - they just wont listen when you tell them we'll all pay for it in the long run.

who is this down to , most posties have set ways, preffered working practices and most will choose to do what suits, there is a national agreement on how to work , the word agreement by definition is that the two sides [ r/m and the cwu] agree the practice in principle, but in real life day to day neither one of them enforce it. in this instance they should both be singing from the same book side by side ensuring it stands or falls on its own merits after all they have both endorced it , its another example of lack of descisive leadership and a fractious workforce the latter being the most harmful , :hmmmm think about it if they both enforced the practice as one there would be no room for any thing else then it will sink or swim and then we move on or back

The union never makes RM enforce agreements that might be unpopular with "some" members.
They would much rather fudge and wait a year or so then come out with another agreement that dilutes the first enough so that members can just carry on as normal.
It's going to be interesting where this trolleys thing ends up because local managers aren't touching them,a lot of members aren't touching them and a lot of reps seem to have gone blind and deaf.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

christmas is here already and the usual xtra packet bag location is now in situ which makes 3 areas to collect your packets from when throwing off your frame, question is when we trialled park and loop earlier this year i asked how many knock ons were timed into the duty i was told 20 per walk making a total of 40, HOW ACCURATE IS THAT we are up around 60+ at the moment and anticipate more ,if that is correct how did they arrive at 20 per duty, even when the trials were held more often it was above that figure. or has it changed ? :hmmmm

we have been told we are the problem now to slow must try harder and speed up. most back to using bags and cutting corners where they can just to get round on a good day. bad days half a walk left in for the late p/t to take out its a joke.

they had the main manager down last week from the sorting office having people in saying they slow and not fit for the job time bullying as started i think

pros :trolleys are easy to use make job easier dont like HCT,s
one of you usually knows the round at least
great if you get on with your buddy.

cons:PDA is a pain prefer pen and paper
never able to stop and talk to people always in a rush
having to help slow workmate
not getting on with your buddy

Generally its been ok but i would definitly prefer bikes in the summer and vans in the winter .

Reading this thread has made me smile so much, but not because of the posties who are struggling.

Our office has been doing this park and loop thing for nearly a year now and we are still in the same sh*t as last xmas, parcels piling up already (mainly due to the fact we are still lapsing walks  ) and having to get people in on their days off to clear them. We had to be put onto a 4 day week because the duties were too big and couldn't be achieved in 8 hours. Our delivery spans are 5hrs 15 for both walks incl. large packets, tracked and specials. The majority of posties still have the bag on the shoulder and rush round to complete   .

Now we are being told that the duties will probably stay the same and we will be moving back to a 5 day week next year. :left: Can't wait.

Oh and the area manager said we have too many indoor hours "we should only need 5 staff to clear IPS in the morning" :left:

Good luck to all you guys just been dumped in it, you have my deepest sympathy. But try not to get stressed, just work to your time and let the DOM deal with the rest. After all we didn't create this mess :cuppa .
