mazza111 wrote:depends on atos. If they think u can work again u will get IHR with lump sum.

34 weeks PILON (pay in lieu of notice)
any holidays remaining

Pretty sure there's 9 weeks of something too, but cant remember atm as I've not had my meds :crazy: do a search on forums for IHR

When an employee has at least 1 year’s service and meets the criteria for retirement under ill health grounds with a lump sum compensation payment, a payment equivalent to 34 weeks pay will be made. A deferred pension will also be payable to all pensionable employees. The notice period will be subject to normal contractual notice of termination of employment or 9 weeks notice whichever is the greater and this will be with pay. The notice period will be extended to cover pro rata contractual leave during the leave year plus up to 5 days carried over from the previous year. Therefore the total payment for any individual with over 1 year service will be a minimum of 43 weeks up to a maximum of 52 weeks.

Ultimately I suppose you could lodge a complaint with their professional body if the mistake is down to an individual. However, perhaps a visit to http://www.patients-association.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; may be able to offer advice.

apparently ATOS occupational health doesnt actually come under anyone which leaves the whole service open to abuse by their employers royal mail.

its only the individual assesments by their doctors/specialists which can come under scrutiny.

ATOS Origin use the same methods as UNUM Provident did in the States , who developed the LIMA Medical Insurance Software that ATOS use , they call it " aggressive claims management " ; the basic idea is that you're overstating / exaggerating your injury or condition . A Class Action Lawsuit was taken out against UNUM Provident and they were outlawed in many states as criminal disability denial factories . However the Class Action developed from a Internet Campaign and it appears that ATOS Origin are running scared .

Let's just say the links between ATOS Origin and UNUM are very , very organic

there was a sarcastic article in " Private Eye " magazine last week about boycotting these games http://www.gamesmonitor.org.uk/blog/1377" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" Call for ATOS 2012 Paralympics Boycott

London 2012 faces another boycott call. This time it's against Atos, Paralympics sponsors. whose Healthcare division runs the government's programme of assessing people's capacity for work, a programme which has faced constant criticism, including from the House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee.

Disabled activist John McArdle, co-founder of Black Triangle, said: “It is quite frankly obscene that they are sponsors of the Paralympics. The government is using them and the Paralympics to make propaganda for their ill-conceived welfare cuts programme.”

He said campaigners would continue to call for a boycott of the 2012 Paralympics if Atos did not withdraw from the contract for assessing fitness to work. http://davidg-flatout.blogspot.com/2011 ... ional.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Atos don't take criticism lying down. Recently they have practised their own kind of boycott using the threat of libel action to try to silence critics and have taken down websites which publish criticisms of the company.

One of the sites that was threatened with legal action , there's been allegations of relentless weekend long hacking attempts http://www.afteratos.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Postman medically retired by Royal Mail via ATOS Origin " Health Care " Professionals " " then basically stitched up as a malingerer by the same firm when he claimed benefits http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigation ... -atos.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

" When the Royal Mail paid Atos to assess postman Garry Hollingworth they said he should be medically retired. But just weeks later, when they assessed again him for ESA, Atos gave him zero points and passed him fit for work. "

" According to a new survey on sickness benefits by the Department for Work and Pensions, 93% of people will tell lies about their physical condition in order to get some free money.

Of the 1.3 million people who claimed to be ‘too sick to work’ from October 2008 to November 2010, only 88,700 were considered beyond even the most humiliating of menial paid positions.

“These figures show that many people are able to work with the right, erm, ‘motivation’.” said Work and Pensions Minister Steve Webb.

“Those who cannot work will always receive our unconditional support, it’s just that it’s the position of this government that such people don’t exist.”

“If you tell us you’re sick and can’t work, fine – it’s just that we won’t believe you. And if you somehow manage to convince one of our assessors that it’s true, we’ll still find some way to disqualify you. You have my word on that.”

“We’re working hard on that 88,700 figure, trust me.”
