Re: grievance over the 40 min break.
also the wtr ruling for 20min break is based on 6hrs work not 8 or 9
you must take into account extra hrs and legally you must have breaks every 4hrs re of amount of hrs worked.
trouble is when we accepted sdd we did so on promise of job and finish doing away with proper regulation on meal breaks.times have changed again but not terms re breaks we should insist on full break.
how long to boil egg thats half your break gone.
we used to plaY 5-aside footie ,pool, darts during breaks,
it should be break away from work not constant pressure.

Yes it is and it means that after working 6hrs you are legally entitled to a 20 mins break and after another 6hrs you are due another 20mins.hans solo wrote:also the wtr ruling for 20min break is based on 6hrs work not 8 or 9
It does not mean that a 9hr shift legally attracts a 30 min break.
It is not an aggregate system unlike our collectively agreed aggregate system....which is subject to local agreement.

Re: grievance over the 40 min break.
well, i can see his point, he didnt like it, and, didnt vote for it so he is pissed at it,,,,,however, i have just found out today that the ''vote'' WASNT a ballot(i was on the sick at the time) but just a show of hands, and there was a fair few people absent, annual leave/days off/sick etc. and on top of this, one lad said that the rep was using persuasive methods to coax people that it was in their best interests to accept 20/20. god knows why! so,,,was this a proper vote?? i dont think so. also a lot of people have said they would vote differently given another chance.POSTMAN wrote:Can't figure this out, your office voted it in just like mine did,now you've got a member who doesn't want it,well tbf it's tough,a vote has been made by the office and that's it.
Your colleague has to swallow it.You now have a workplan/revision based on this.

Re: grievance over the 40 min break.
ask your rep for a copy of the local agreement signed by himself and the dom then
a show of hands are no longer applicable
thatcher had seen to that with all the employment act brought in
you should have each had a ballot paper, that includes lates, sick, and people on holiday and pref done over a 28 day period
