Meter reading duties

Post by zola4ever »

Hi, nearly a year ago at one of our work time bullshit meetings, one of the managers said that we could be reading gas and electric meters whilst we are on delivery !
Anyway i pissed myself with laughter, however several months later this topic was raiesd again.Anyone else heard this nonsense ? or was i on drugs at time ?

Reading meters? That's another guy's work, whatever else might happen, neither myself, nor anyone else in my office, will be reading
gas meters, electric meters, or those flaming parking meters either. :Very Happy

That sounds like good news!!

If it is managed properly and will create more jobs then it is welcome.

If Royal Mail just think we are going to do it for nothing then they can think again.

What next will they want us to do pick up Kleenezee/Betterware catalogues?

I know how about feed the customers dogs while we're at it.

Running a few Ann Summers parties just for the ladies might be nice though. I'm sure Tommo would willingly lend a hand.

If RM won't let us out in time to deliver the mail before people leave for work, how the f**k can we gain access to houses to read meters?

Ditto

But would the union want to agree with this as we would be putting a lot of other workers out of a job and how would we fit it in. To read all houses on my round every quarter I would have to read 15 a day and its not a just handing over a packet it could take 2 to 3 minutes a time. Sorry I think its a non starter as I don't think they shrink our rounds. I least I hope its a non starter.

Well I'm not going into any houses in my area (I personally don't feel safe going into peoples gardens to deliver their mail) too many things can go wrong.
