Safe drops,or rather unsafe......

Post by POSTMAN »

Did you see the 'Tonight' program with Sir Trev
The way some guys do their safe drops, they just bung em in peoples porches or behind bins.
And the households don't even know they've been there.
And i thought i had problems with my pouch boxes!!!!

Yeah saw it,quality.
I've heard RM have lowered the payments to 'official safe drops',hence there not being many.
Says a lot though about things that this goes on.
The whole RM shabang is a complete joke.

Safe Drops

Post by Wiltshireboy »

Got a story for you. about so called "safe drops".
As a reserve, 1 of the walks I cover is on a mainly army families estate.( Our town is about 80% military) 1 of the drops was in the local mini supermarket.
They suddenly decided that my bag , in the corner of there storeroom was against "Health and Safety", so I was kicked out.
I spoke to the DOM, and she said she`d cleared it with them, to drop the bag on the loading bay, behind the shop.
Follow me so far?
The first day we were doing this, I was 10 mins away from collecting the last bag, which was the one from the aforementioned mini market, when I could here several emergency vehicle sirens going. "Oh dear, they`re close " I thought. "I hope theres not been an accident"
I got to the last house, and turned the corner ......there in front of me, outside the shop were several Royal Military Police vehicles, blue lights a-flashing, 2 Ministry of Defence Police Cars, lights doing very much the same. Several soldiers, and various Police officers, stopping traffic.
They had the shop girls, lined up , and were taking statements, when the Bomb disposal truck turned up!
The boss of the MOD Police, saw me, and politely asked if he could " Have a word".His vein on his forehead was throbbing seriously by this stage!! I dont know how he stayed calm.
He started going on , saying, " Did I know what Id caused!?" etc etc. The shop girls saw my bag, and though it was a bomb, and rang 999. (No i dont know why they thought it was a bomb either, it was a bag with "ROYAL MAIL on the side!!)
I cut him short saying I had DOM`s permission to do this, and gave him her number, picked my bag up, and bimbled on my merry way, silently chuckling.
It was a very impressive turnout by the way. looked very Professional. :Applause Everytime I see him when Im out and about, i give him a big wave, and he waves back at me with gritted teeth!!!
When Im on that walk, and hire a police siren, I come over all peculiar for a few seconds, I must admit!!
:nervous
