Hi, working at Dover sorting office(International) and can see from this forum that it is not just us that are getting beat with the sh*t stick. Currently looking to shut our office down sometime next year although no definate date yet, this has been ongoing for the past five years with various closure dates only for "slippage" to occur and a new closure date six months down the line to be put in place, looks as though this is the last one as the lease is up on our building. We have the option of taking VR although they cannot specify when or transferring to Canterbury Mail Centre or other local delivery office again no indication of when this will happen either. VR's can only be taken when they ship work out (pro rata) and transfers were going to be done on a bumping/preference exercise run in the local CT area, this has been now deemed to expensive by Royal Mail. There is a general feeling that we are going to get shafted at the end, especially with the difficulty a few people have already had trying to get their VR money. It looks as though Royal Mail are ready to twist the rules of the MTSF and I have concerns that they will try to enforce compulsory redundancy upon us at the end, as there will be nowhere for us to go and no money in the pot!
With a strike looming as well it's all rosy down in the south-east.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
