I'm with you.
If park&loop is to be binned there has to be a plan b.
In my opinion plan b probably means scrapping the proposed 75/25 part-time/full-time mix and moving closer to 50/50 with some offices closer to 30/70.

That in my opinion should have been the position the union took in the first place because a full time job that requires you to do a 6 hour P&L delivery at 67 years old is not really a job at all. What next from the unions a re-introduction of chimney sweeping by children?

I agree that the focus should be on fair, achievable and sustainable jobs.
But how do we shed all those full time jobs. How many people currently on a full time contract could afford to drop to p/t hours?
How many VRs or buy-downs would RM be prepared to fund?
The question might be - how many compulsory redundancies are we prepared to accept?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Manager told us to do it how we want today after asking him if he wanted us to do it in a van or cycle :Very Happy

We both decided to do it with a cycle ( well i took a van as well!) and surprise surprise we both completed our deliveries in time.

We normally have to leave 2 full rows in if we van share to be done in time.

Chaos this van share trolley lark.

I don't really think there is anything wrong with the park&loop model as far as protecting full-time jobs is concerned.
I think unreasonable expectations that the move could be made with not just zero cost to business but savings incorporated as well condemned the system from the start.
Georoute was a waste of money and time.
Planners were an even bigger waste of money and time.
IWT is a micro managers dream...and a waste of money and time.
Managers refused to engage staff because they were under the mistaken impression that they knew everything about the job from that time they did half a walk.
All in all the reason for this disaster can be laid squarely at the feet of management from the humble(never) Lino to Higson himself.
It will no doubt be blamed on our unwillingness to modernise. :cuppa
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

We have just recruited again, I'm not sure how many this time but I think it is 6, which is in addition to the 18 taken on since January. All, without exception, are on part time contracts. As you can imagine this denigrates even more the part time ratio of the national 75/25, which at the time of the agreement was 60/40 and is now 50/50 ish.

It would be interesting to see what the national ratio is now and who, if anyone, is really keeping tabs.

Why would the suspension of park and loop be a cause for celebration?
Walk sequenced mail will cut your indoor hours. The only way to maintain full time jobs is to extend the delivery span or to accept a predominantly p/t workforce.
If extending the delivery span still includes a bag on the shoulder that nana of yours won't be dancing into his old age.
walk sequenced mail has INCREASED our indoor work. we are on the primary for almost an hour longer than we were before they brought the bloody thing in. what a total waste of money. and its not just our office, im hearing this all over the place, there,s supposed to be between 75% and 90% of the mail sequenced when it comes from the mail centre, we are getting about 46/50%. it,ll be even less at christmas. plus the trays are ALL mixed up, you get other peoples mail, and sometimes not even for our office. teething problems they say, well its been in since early july. i would hate to have toothache for THAT long i know. its all fekt. happy days :Very Happy
We are the same daveff,we've just had the planners in and they were amazed that out of three or four trays only 2 at the most would be sequenced and like you say some of the trays had the wrong walk numbers on,I.P.S has gone crazy with about 4 full yorks to be sorted, part timers get shouted up to help its a real cluster fu*k.
For we were soldiers once, and young
