south west review

anybody got any news on the south west review yet?
we seem to have news of other areas where the mail centres seem to know 18 months or even 2 years ahead of closure and yet the south seem totally in the dark.

Either they have run out of money at the moment,or they cant make up their minds because so much of this area is rural,not sure what to think?

i work for the dorset mail centre and i pretty much think that we are going because of our size

who knows but morale is terrible at the moment!!

No South West Review seems to have happened at all. Maybe they have run out of money or have too many other mail centre closures, openings or extensions that they decided to wait a bit. In that briefing letter where they said the £1400 shares money had dissapeered, they did say that the modernisation programme was eighteen months behind. I wonder how far it is behind now. Could be they may feel they have gone far enough for privatisation.

The MC closure programme is due to be completed by 2016-17, ie another 5 years. Anglia, Wales, SW and Gloucester (part of Thames Valley) still left to be done. Yes Finance is likely to be an issue aswell as the huge amount of planning required for each closure.

If Kernow gets Independance Truro Mail Centre should be safe as their National Distribution Centre.
