D Day Thursday.

Post by POSTMAN »

Dear Colleague

Royal Mail – Pay and Future

The Union’s postal executive met today (Tuesday 1st May 07) and agreed a timetable for an Industrial Action ballot.

We have also been informed that Royal Mail has a board meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) and subsequently have offered to meet with the Union on Thursday.

As a result, the Union’s executive has decided to make no public announcement until after Thursday’s meeting with the employer.

Yours sincerely

Dave Ward

I know it's been posted on a couple of threads but.....

Seems everything is sorted by the Union a timetable for an Industrial Action ballot has been agreed, just waiting for RM's reply on Wed then.....

Can't see much changing so i guess we'll be out soon.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

National ballot

Post by johnnyp »

If it does come to one and i think it will we MUST RETURN A MASSIVE YES VOTE, :pray if we dont it will seriously weaken the unions hand when it comes to negotiating a good deal on all the issues we now face.

I think the union has to tell Royal Mail both what the turn out was and what the vote % was. So what is the minimum vote that keeps the union in a strong position. My guess is a 80% turnout (although I expect at 90+%) and a minimum 75% strike vote both I think are achievable if the union start pulling their finger out.

every postman/woman has to vote YES, we all have to realise what is at stake, this is without doubt the biggest challenge we have ever faced.

The WF if i recall had about a two thirds turnout which compared to other ballots since then was a good turnout.

I think we should be able to use WTLL to vote as obvisouly when its a national agrement being voted (do we have that any more) the employer will wish for a yes vote. Perhaps a joint session with local rep to explain the aggrement and answera few questions as to how the aggrement might work in the D.O would be usefull.
