I often wonder why the government doesn't play a bigger part ,after all it is still a public service and they should be overseeing proceedings to ensure 1 the tax payer is getting value for money and 2 That a strong, reliable, and efficient service is being provided......
If I were in charge a quick look at the books would speak volumes with regard to the way the buisness is being run by Senior management. I would want to know why 10 years ago when most everyone used the transport and facilities RM provided we MADE A HANDSOME PROFIT, PROVIDING A 1ST AND 2ND EARLIER DELIVERY, which was without doubt better. They would have the old chestnut that the mail is dropping off, but even if this is so, it is no where near proportianate to the decline in profits......
The absence of Government interest also speaks volumes as does the introduction of the most laughable so called competition..... Government is no more competent than the clowns running RM and the introduction of "competition has only served to line the pockets of thier well off cronies.....

poorer service to the public, thats what they get now, they want mail earlier and we want to deliver it earlier?

"a six week strike would probably bankrupt the lot of them" - no, no income but no wages paid out, and any impact wouldn't be too much as part of a large multinational, and even if they were bankrupted there would be plenty of other vultures waiting to pick up the pieces and offer even worse pay and conditions for those still working for them.BELIAL wrote:In all probability it would be largely the same management with just private parasites that are new. On the up side ;a six week strike would probably bankrupt the lot of them ; Then what? no postal delivery service at all ,ever . Like to see how that pans outzidangus wrote:, but on a management side it surely could not be worse then the current lot.

You will need to be at manager level for that. So no i dont think we will be better privatised.

Re: Would the RM be better of privatised
Privitisation would be a DISASTER, for us ,and for the general public, lets make no bones about that. There are a million and one ways to save money in this industry (we all could probably think of half a dozen off the top of our heads), and in nearly all of them we would be the loosers. I think all the revisions happening to the walks in offices up and down the country, are deliberately set out to fail. The chaos that ensues , will be the pretext for privitising the industry - privitisation will be sold to us and the public as the saviour ,the way to SAVE the industry. They couldn,t do it (privitise it) honestly, there was too much political opposition, so they do it dishonestly. The only winners will be the high management, for them it will be like getting a licence to print money. Sorry, for being so pessimistic, but, whatever way you look at it ,the future ain,t looking too rosey!
