Hi,
start in a weeks time , just wondering amI doing the right thing accepting RM offer of employment as a postie as I am already working but hacked off with travelling up and down the country every day.whats RM like to work for?

Locally - depends on your colleagues and managers as usual - hope you are lucky there.

Nationally - At the moment a lot of things are changing in Royal Mail and the Union with it. So whatever job you are going into soon you won't recognise it in 5 years (except of course for the most basic part - putting letter in doors).

The Industrial Relation side is frankly horrendous, RM seem to see workers as a drain on their profits and bonuses, and there is little trust on a national level between RM Corporate Management, The CWU and ordinary workers - in fact all 3 sometimes seem to be pulling in 3 different direction.

However. IT IS THE BEST job I have had for the money, camaraderie and stress levels.
