Travel allowance - How much
Hi.
Been working in Wakefield this week as the new delivery methods not working out very well and they need extra bodies.
I am travelling around 120 miles round trip everyday.
Does anybody know the mileage allowance that I an allowed.
I am using my own car and petrol.
Have been told either 45p or 19p per mile .
Cheers for any answers.

45 pence per mile (minus your milage to own office & back) for petrol cars.
Was 19 pence per mile for diesel cars, don't know if this has changed.

which means with the price of petrol these days you are probably losing money travelling to this office even after you get the travel payment!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

I recently claimed mileage for travelling to Bristol, diesel 1.9, 95 miles and I got about £45 back, so looks like I got about 45p per mile

Not much of the working day left after you've taken 120 miles travelling out of it.

If he's claiming travelling/mileage allowance, then i 'think' the travelling is done in his own time.Anyone?Lounge Lizard wrote:Not much of the working day left after you've taken 120 miles travelling out of it.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I thought mileage was to pay for fuel/wear on your vehicle and if you are traveling outside duty time you can claim travel time as well (this is payed at a lower rate than normal OT).POSTMAN wrote:If he's claiming travelling/mileage allowance, then i 'think' the travelling is done in his own time.Anyone?Lounge Lizard wrote:Not much of the working day left after you've taken 120 miles travelling out of it.

Sounds like a green docket and mileage allowance to me.
if they are that keen for you to go, ask to be taken there and brought back, that should shorten your day by a couple of hours
