A VILLAGE post office facing closure has been granted a reprieve.
Snettisham sub postmistress Kim Singer is over the moon to hear that plans to move the delivery office and its postmen to Hunstanton have been dropped.
Royal Mail has denied that there were plans to axe the branch, which is well used.
Mrs Singer feared that she would have to shut up shop after learning that the delivery office, which is behind her shop, was going to be moved as she relies on the rent to cover her overheads.
But she learned last week that the Royal Mail is not intending to submit a formal request to move the delivery office.
The move follows a campaign to save the branch which has included a 1,200-signature petition. This was handed to Henry Bellingham MP on September 16.
Mrs Singer said: “It is a big relief. I don’t know their reasons for not going ahead but it is good news for me.
“It is wonderful, I’m over the moon.”
Mrs Singer says that the shop and post office counter have been well used.
She has thanked everyone who has supported her in the fight, including Mr Bellingham.
A spokesman for the Royal Mail said; “We have no current plans to close Snettisham Post Office and delivery office.”

Dersingham, Grimston, Bircham, East Rudham, Heacham, Brancaster, Docking, Burnham Market, East Winch, Gayton, Narborough and Middleton as well as Snettisham all have SPDOs that in due course will be amalgamated into Hunstanton, Kings Lynn and Swaffham Delivery Offices.
